Last minute RCI transfer?

Well, I've been hoping not to think about this, but it's hard to be encouraged at this point...

We have an Aug 4 reservation, so we're within holding, and a September UY, so we're past banking. My understanding is right now if we cancel they would not enforce holding, but it wouldn't really matter much as they are no longer waiving banking rules (and there are quite a few 2018 points in there, which is one of the reasons we left the reservation in August as we won't be able to go before November anyway).

Is RCI still a possibility? I thought I saw someone say that you could push points into RCI as late as 45 days before the end of your use year, but I didn't actually see anything about timing in the RCI details (I only skimmed the legalese so likely missed something).

We would really like to go to Disney this year, even under the current limited offerings. But unless FL somehow gets things under control (still hoping that closing bars etc will start to pay off), we're concerned things are going to be even worse in August.

I'm in a very similar situation to you. I have an August 10 trip, with an October UY, and I'm using primarily 2018 points.

I know I've been told there's a 45 day deadline by a CM (mine is August 17) to transfer to RCI, but I can't find this on the website at this point, although I'm sure I've seen it before. I feel like you CAN transfer beyond that deadline, but the points have restrictions on them.

Also, I'm trying to find out for certain what happens if they do reinstate the holding rules and how that impacts a transfer to RCI. It looks like the 60-day booking window may follow the points into RCI if that's the case, but I'm not certain.

What I am certain of is that the RCI website is clunky and difficult to navigate. This seems to carryover into the DVC website when looking for clear and concise information on the details of RCI. I feel like I click in circles and just get confused. :badpc: :headache:

Oh, and I think my Delta flight can be canceled, but the ecredit will only be good until May 2021 instead of Sept 2022. I modified my flight in May and there was some weird glitch and I did a cancel and rebook instead of waiting on hold for 7 hours, and this may end up biting me in the rump. :headache:

We also have an October UY and 100 expiring 2018 points. We moved our August trip to the very last week of September, but know(?) that we'd have to cancel by mid-August if we want to deposit into RCI. We've owned DVC for 10 years but I've never used the points for anything by a DVC stay, so this is all new. Everything I've read looks like you have to deposit them 45 days before end of UY.

You definitely saw that info in the RCI Disclosure Document. But that was redone sometime in June and now there is no mention of deposit deadlines. Makes me think DVC or RCI changed those, so my advice is to call MS to verify the deadlines if you are thinking RCI might be your best option.

Thank you. I felt like I was going crazy, because it seemed like the 45 day deadline was in an obvious location the last time I looked for it, but today I couldn't find it anywhere! :confused3

My heart and my head are not in agreement on what the best option is at this point.

I have 106 2018 points (Sept use year) - I used chat yesterday and was told the points were good til November and I could deposit into RCI up to October 17. Since I'm "old" and from NY I don't see a trip happening anytime soon.....funny it was the first time I had banked points...I'm usually in a borrowing state....never again.

I also have a Sept use year with I cancelled my July 4 reservation and I was told I needed to book by Sept 2019 or lose the points or put them in RCI by 8/15/19
I would have liked to have gone in November. Everyone gets a different answer

FWIW, I've now booked 50 points (my 47 2018 banked points plus 3 more to get an even number) into RCI. As with everything else, it seems like there's a different answer every time you call, but here's what I understand for now.

The 45 day rule will come back, but apparently they are allowing exceptions to it at present. I don't know what the conditions are for exceptions; I get the impression they're being pretty generous as they are using as an "out" for people who can't/won't use expiring points given what's going on at WDW for now. Regardless, it's definitely worth it to call if you're within 45 days.

The RCI points I have will expire at the end of 2022, so I have time to use them. With that said, it seems hard to get a 50 point reservation within RCI (much easier to get a 200pt week) so I may need to decide whether to transfer 150 more or work hard to find something OK for a weekend trip next year that we hope works out.

If i deposit 300 pts into RCI in sept. of 2020 will i have all of 2021 to use ? Also are we then able to use the RCI to stay at Riviera or Wilderness Lodge ?

RCI won’t allow booking for DVC. I believe that the points are extended 2 years once in there.

Does RCI allow you to book non DVC resorts or do you mean any Disney

From my research..limited...nothing in Disney as RCI is all timeshare, which would be DVC I don’t even think there are any in the Orlando area.

So, once there, there is no way to use them for Disney or that area at all.
