Hello! My family just decided that we are going to go to HHI March 18-21. We checked travelocity and there are rooms available at the Disney resort. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any rooms left using points. We would like to stay in a studio or 1 br if possible. We will most likely reserve a room there anyway, but we'd love to rent points if possible. We've rented in the past and had a great experience.

Secondly, if you had to pay the full rate for the rooms, would you? We've never been to HHI before and I know that Disney sets the bar really high for their resorts. However, there are hotels near the Disney resort that are much cheaper. I wish I could make up my mind. Thanks!:goodvibes

Do you know a lot about Hilton Head, and do you know a lot about the DVC resort there? If all of your experience with DVC is the WDW resorts, you may or may not like the resort at HH. It is not the typical Hilton Head resort and it is located off the beach in a more secluded area (though adjacent to "civilization"). We LOVE the resort, and we LOVE Hilton Head. You may or may not. Studios and 1BR can be difficult to get because there are very few of either type of unit at HH. Usually they are gone or almost gone by seven months out. You may possibly have luck, but it would not surprise me if they are sold out. I think if it was me I would book a cheaper resort and take time to look around the island. Then go back again and stay at the DVC resort if it meets your preferences.

Thanks! I think that we would enjoy it. I think what we are going to do is plan to book a room on the beach for a couple nights and then book a room at the Disney Resort for one night. That way, we can experience both ways. That way, the next time we go to HHI we will have a better understanding of what is available.

The inventory that Travelocity has will not affect availablity of points reservations. They are seperate.

That said we have gone in March, but it was cool each time and while we loved it, it was too cold for the beach or pool. It is off season and some things are not open or close early.

We love the location and some don't. There seems to be no in between. Your suggestion of doing both is probably a good idea.

Expedia is showing studios & 1br available for early June. DH was checking out some places "on the beach" and was surprised to see HH pop up. He has tried in the past to get it to show availability so he could look at the cash price.
