Anyone ever had luck getting cheap last minute plane tickets? We are outside of Charlotte and plane tickets to Orlando are outrageous. My daughter is going with her marching band and marching in the MK parade Friday, and now I'm really regretting not planning to go.
Any tips??? Or perhaps I just need a reality check. I can't pay $700 plus for a ticket ......

Check those last minute travel sites and see if you can find something better but typically, the closer you are to your travel date the more expensive it will be. Is this a drivable distance for you?

Rarely you can get a great deal on priceline for last minute air travel. I've done it once or twice. Although Charlotte to Orlando is totally drivable in 8 hours or so.

If you are flexible with your airports, maybe a deal out of Greenville/Spartanburg, SC? I've flown in/out of that airport and it's usually pretty reasonably priced. Not sure if there are any direct flights though -- most airlines connect through ATL and your trip could take 5+ hours. I'd rather drive, personally.

Why would you want to fly when the drive is around 8 hours?

Well, mainly because it will just be me and my 5 year old DD. I would be a little hesitant to drive that distance alone with her. I am not the biggest fan of long distance driving (to me, anything over 2 hrs is a long way!)

If you find a deal be sure to visit the actual website of the airline. It's rare that an online TA can get a better fare than the airline itself.

I'd just drive though. Any friends who wouldn't mind a quick jaunt south?

Do you have allegiant airlines where you are. They are new to our area and they have been having some really good deals. We got a direct from Little Rock to MCO (Orlando) for around $100 each way. Look them up, maybe they are out your way by now.

I just looked and you do have an Allegiant Airlines near you but I was wrong about one thing, it doesn't fly into MCO, it flies into Sandford, which is about an hour north of Orlando and there isn't a Disney bus there so you will have to rent a car to get to Disney, but if you look around you can find some codes that will give you a decent rate, but the flight look to be cheap enough, round trip for around $200 with baggage and insurance, so you can still afford to rent a car with the difference between the two flights. We have flown with this airline and the plane is very comfortable, very roomy, and we rented a car and drove into Disney, stopped at Walmart, got some food and stuff, so you could possibly save some $ that way too. Anyway, just a suggestion.
