Last minute options of DVC points

I recently closed (still waiting on membership materials) on some DVC points. I'll have a use year of December and the seller banked Dec 2015 points that now expire at the end of Nov 2017. Given that it is already November - are there any options or will I just lose these points? I read about transferring to RCI, but also saw there was a 45 day window. Not sure if that is correct or not. Renting the points doesn't seem to be much of an option at this point either. Not sure if that is correct or not. Of course, I could use them, but I understand there is not much availability between now and end of the month. TIA

You’d need to use them. It costs more but you might be able to book a regular room using points through the Disney Collection. You might also be able to use them at Vero. Or take a last minute trip to Aulani. It looked like there was availability there last I checked.

Another option would be to book something this month in the Concierge collection.

Or use them immediately through RCI for an exchange reservation up to 24 months out. Or perhaps bank them to RCI for future exchange travel.

Disney Collection cannot be booked with recent Resale points. Copy/Paste from the DVC Member's website:

• Effective, March 21, 2011, Members who do not purchase their ownership interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those Vacation Points for the Disney Collection or Concierge Collection.

Also the "rule of 4" would block trying to use at a Disney hotel even if you had a direct purchase.

Thanks all for the options. Once I get my membership info I’ll check and see what the availability looks like and check if there is the option of the RCI to extend the time period just a bit.

Congrats on purchase. Which resort do you call home now? I would think that you should be able to find a 2 bedroom somewhere to rent, I would call them and see what they have. Guess it all depends on how many points you have to burn. Good luck and enjoy.

I looked online just now, and there were 2 non-consecutive nights of Deluxe studio at SSR open at WDW for the entire month December. And, there are lots of accommodations available at non-WDW resorts (HHI, VB, Aulani). But, since we're within the 60 day window, there may be availability that isn't showing up online. Once you become a member, you can call member services and ask what's available.
