Last minute ME question

Anyone ever been bumped from flight, and went to Magical Express to ask if they would take you back to a Disney resort? In order to stay on site an extra night.

We always book the last Delta flight out of MCO to DTW. One trip they over booked, and we took the option to be bumped to the next day. Delta put us up in a airport hotel, and gave us dining credits, and such. But my Disney brain, couldn't stop thinking how we could be at Disney still. And I was totally willing to pay for the hotel OOP for the extra night.

For our upcoming December trip, we're booked on the same flight out. I can't help but think there's a very good chance it'll be overbooked. And we would totally take the option to be bumped again. But I want to go back to Disney instead of an airport hotel. Is the only way to book the hotel and schedule ME pick-up, can this be done night of? TIA

Yes. Our flight was canceled last May due to bad weather in Nashville which was our connecting city. Could not get a flight out till the next day. I went down to the DME desk asked to use the phone to make a Disney hotel reservation. Then hopped on the bus back to Disney.

Since the extra night/day at a WDW resort would be a separate reservation, it would entitle you to a ride on DME to/from the resort, so it shouldn't be an issue.

If you're willing to pay for the hotel, why not just take their airport hotel then rent a car and go over to WDW for the evening (and maybe morning)?

It's what I did when we were bumped on Superbowl Sunday! DS and DH watched the game from the Doubletree, I snagged a rental car and played in Epcot until it closed.
