Last minute holiday after xmas?

Has anyone booked a last minute trip after xmas?

DH and I are thinking about seeing if we can get a cheapo break after christmas, the time after xmas and before new year. Has anyone got an experience of booking a last minute trip like this?

Anyone know what price to expect?

How last minute do you mean? Prices at the moment for that time period are really expensive.

We booked 2 weeks ago for 29 dec for 14 nights flying BA and we paid:
Flights £1240
Hotel £574
Car with insurance £386

Total £2200 2 adults & 2 children (we paid 3 adults 1 child, as son is 12 and jetsave kids go up to and include 11 year olds, but child price was only £50 cheaper so didnt make much difference)

I must add BA had a sale that week so we were very lucky! but its worth keeping an eye on them!

Haven't any experience of booking then, but i have read everywhere that the week between xmas and new year is the busiest week of the whole year .

Flight in between Xmas and New Year are usually booked up, but if you can hang on until after New Year you can get some good deals, quiet parks and value hotel rates . We flew ont he 3 Jan 08 last year with BA and saw prices as low as £150-£200 return before we went. If you go early in Jan you catch the xmas decorations etc too

We have been over christmas 3 times now - but Hubby can no longer get christmas off work - only the time off after it. Not worried about the crowds - we just LOVE the atmosphere.

By Last minute I mean last minute - like 2 weeks before kind of thing.......watch this space I guess!

The period between Xmas and New Year is massively popular with Americans, so it does get very busy
