we've got less then 3 weeks before we head out to WDW and DCL

i'm always a little nervous that we are going to forget something - ya i know we can buy stuff when we get there but it's just wasting money.

anything you forgot that you wish you had on your check off list?

cruise or wdw

(one thing i made sure i packed and repacked was the FE LOL can't forget that now can i)

not sure I can help with specific items, but I can tell you this. Grab some paper and a pen and make a list now. As you think of things, add them to the list. As you pack those items, cross the item off your list.
We are not going until Nov and we have a list already. We also have a pile in one of our rooms with stuff we don't need know and are bringing with us.

My last minute hint is to make sure you have enough of a deposit to book on board for the next cruise!!! :thumbsup2

My big thing that I loved was a mesh laundry bag from Wal-Mart. I stuffed all the dirty laundry in it every day before the stateroom hostess came. It kept everything organized and then I just shoved the thing in the suitcase at the end.

I forgot my hairdryer. I wish I had it. The one in the bathroom stunk! I ended up wearing my hair back in a clip the entire week. That was fine for the sea days and whatnot but would have liked to have actually "done" my hair for formal night.

Other than that, just bring your regular stuff. And if anyone's prepared it has to be you!! :thumbsup2

LOL - what's that supposed to mean???:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thanks for reminding me about the hair dryer - i wasn't going to bring it but if the ones on the ship and at the resorts aren't that great i'll bring it.

question - i have hot curlers - to the ladies in the house bring yours or should i just forget about them?

I also forgot my hairdryer and regreted it. Bring a bedside alarm clock that glows in the dark (I hated waking up not knowing what time it was).

Forget the curlers. Between the humidity and the wind - it's just wasting time.

I echo the poster that said start to lay out things in 1 room. About 3 weeks out - I start putting things (non-clothing) out on my dining room table. Lots of room and it helps me figure out which suitcase, duffle, carry-on they will eventually get packed in. I put docs and ID's and an envelope with a bunch of $1.00's (room service tips, bell tips for hotel) in a basket on one end. I put extra phone/camera chargers out. I put a power strip out. I put our collapsible laundry hamper out. Travel sized detergent and Bounce. Light up travel clock. Jewelry bag with my non-everyday jewelry. Ziplock full of hair thingies. Extra Gallon Ziplocks to take along. Lay out all the things that you are taking. Do the same for everyone in your family.

Make a separate list for everything your family uses the morning you leave that you need to pack. Start it now so you know it is complete. Tape that to your bathroom mirror and check things off that morning as you pack them.

Do you want to know the one tip that I never thought of until it happened to me? Put a pair of sunglasses in your purse or carry-on now. For everyone in the family. :cool2:

We keep our sunglasses in the car. Got up on the day before one of our cruises and left the house about 5:00AM to fly to Orlando. It was dark outside. Parked at the airport, went in the terminal, boarded the plane. Upon leaving the airport in Orlando - we were all blind. We had our limo drop us off at the Residence Inn in PC, and then took a taxi to the Target on Merritt Island - to buy sunglasses, LOL! :lmao::lmao: Our limo would have stopped, but we just wanted to get checked in, freshened up, and drop our luggage off.

Turns out we needed a few other things. Forgot sunblock. Forgot khakis for the nephew, etc. Thank goodness all Target stores are set up basically the same. We flew through there in 15 minutes while our cab waited outside and spent the rest of the day at the pool.

Don't forget to look at the packing list on the DCL DIS FAQ sticky. It may be really helpful.

I hope you have a fantastic cruise!

Two oddball things I always pack now, after needing them and not having them:

1. An extra pair of shoelaces for when someone breaks theirs

2. An extra "clip" for my swimsuit top. I actually had a clip break, just as I got to the beach my first morning on shore (on a brand new suit none the less). I couldn't wear that suit the rest of the trip and had to go back to the cabin for the other suit that morning.:sad2: The spare clip came in handy for DD whose broke last year. I don't know why we have such bad luck with these:confused3

I second the recommendations on some sort of laundry bag. That saved my sanity on our last cruise!

I'd pack some kind of outlet strip or expander. There are very few outlets in the room, and if you're charging phones/Nintendos/etc. or trying to do your hair, you'll be fighting for outlets.

I also recommend packing several lightweight clothespins. There's a laundry line in the bathtub, so with the clothespins you can hang your swimsuits to dry (or hang any handwashing you might do.)

Those are my "must haves" that are tough to find once you're on board.

One thing that we take, silly as it sounds, is a highlighter. It is nice to have to mark your navigator so that you can plan your day.

Along with your prescriptions, take any kind of medicines that you may need. You don't want to be running around an island or the ship for medicine if you have a sudden case of nausea or diarreah!

I always take everything I may need, and anything I don't think I will need, just in case.

Tylenol, Motrin, Immodium, Benadryl, Claritin, Sudafed, Tums, cough drops, etc.

Also, first aid stuff, like bandaids, antibiotic cream, etc.

My must haves:
--3M Contact Hooks (the kind that you can remove)--I put them on the bottom of the plastic that holds the Safety Info sheet on the back of the front door to hold our lanyards......that way, no one would forget their lanyard. They come off very easily without any damage.
--mesh laundry hamper (just kept things neater in the room)
--over-the-door shoe holder (loved it with myself and 3 teenagers)
--highlighters
--multi-outlet extension cords
--clock with backlight

Didn't take but should have---Hairdryer!

ohhh i originally thought of those 3m hooks but forgot to write it down - thanks for the reminder
