What about a gift card to a fast food place like Taco Bell or McD's .....teenage boys love fast food. Another idea is a gift card to a video game store.

I got my son Call of Duty PJ pants at Target. It's his favorite video game. I can see him now lounging in those pants playing Call of Duty.

iTunes cards are a big hit around here.

My DS wanted the Inception DVD.

Boxers from American Eagle are also a big hit.

Ds is 17 - here are some of the things I've gotten for him:

PJ pants
Cologne
Gift cards for Applebees, Subway, Uno, Taco Bell
Itunes gift card
Xbox live and Xbox points gift cards
Tickets to concerts/sporting events/comediens
Hooded Sweatshirts - heavy on the sports teams, especially basketball

You sound like me. I also have a 17 year old son. We got him Madden 11, gift cards to Best Buy, chickfila and subway, Itunes, Microsoft points, new gaming controller that just came out for XBOX, cold hard cash. My parents also got him gift cards to various restaurants, GameStop, movie theaters, Fifa Soccer.

The hands down winner out of last years gifts was a gaming headset- It was a Turtle Beach Surround sound headphones ($199 Last year but found them on sale not sure what they go for now) for Xbox 360. They all swear it makes them play better- you can hear the subtle things with them.

He also liked the skull candy headphones he got for his birthday for music.

And I have to ask is the new contoller the D-Pad one? for XBox

This year he was easy- he wanted an expensive camera.

My 13 yr old is also getting the COD pajama pants! My 15 year old is getting Simpsons pajama pants.

One or both are getting:
video games
Xbox Live 12 month card
Itunes card
movie theater gift card
underarmour shirts (coldgear for one, heatgear for the other)
magazine subscription

Do they drive? My DS loves to get gas gift cards! If you would prefer to not go the gift card/cash route...Food!!! Make a huge snack bag and throw a movie in it.

Axe body wash sets are big. If they're into jewelry, Target has some great guy stuff.

DS 18 is getting ear buds with volume control, NHL 11 for x box, a watch, the Office season - I don't remember and some much needed clothing.

Airsoft stuff if they are into that.
Northface anything.
Nerf Guns...sounds crazy, but they still love them.
Crazy ski hat if cold weather area.
Tickets to sporting event
Electronic drumsticks

:thumbsup2
Our now 17 year old son got the same ones last year. He had a 100 dollar Turtle Beach one.... then got the 199 buck one for Christmas. THEN..... he upgraded on his own DIME to some type I don't even know the name.... that cost over 300 bucks. :scared1: He sold his paintball gun and equipment on EBAY to get the money to pay for the new headset. He still has the Turtle Beach as backup.

DS12 is getting:

* 4 new XBox games
* new headset (got him the Skull candy one last year, & either he didn't like it or it broke)
* Microsoft/XBox points
* Scratch-Off Lottery tickets
* Hexbugs (I've been reading about them...hope he likes them)
* 2011 Guiness Book of World Records
* 2 Family Guy DVDs

* Every year, I also make a Coupn Book for him - with coupons for things like "Skip-Day with dad" and he gets to redeem it & play hooky from school one day with dad. I haven't had time yet this year to create his annual coupon book (due to my DD's almost 2 month hospitalization) so I may just give it to him for his b-day in February.

** His great-grandmother sent him a $500.00 check :eek:

** He already has some XBox flannel pants (Halo maybe??). I'll have to check out these other ones mentioned whenever I get back to Target.

One time I gave my 16y/o son a wallet filled with fast food gift cards. You could put in cash, movie tickets, or whatever they like.

DS has about worn out is Xbox ones from last year. I looked all over for new ones - he'd love the Halo version - and nothing. Target and Kohls both had them last year - nothing now :headache:

We got my 14yo DSS:

An XBox game
A Hollister Shirt
A Shaving kit (he doesn't shave yet but will need to soon)
Cash for a trip he's going on with his mom
A German translation book
A magazine subscription for an XBox magazine
Toy Story 3 on DVD
Some data transfer thingy for his XBox
A Halo action figure
Boxer shorts

Perhaps some cologne from Aeropostle or Hollister. A nicer wallet. Mocasin slipper/shoes are HUGE with the kids around here right now. DH got his at Payless because they were warm and DSS flipped out over them and had them the next week when he came to our house :confused3. Tickets to a sporting event (we have both minor league baseball and hockey here and tickets are very affordable) or tickets to the movies.

Money. Autonomy and trust plus freedom to make the choice of present bought makes for a really HAPPY teenager. $20 hard cash in their hand is better than any gift card. And to a teen it is truly magical to receive money. $50 or $100 or more is even better.

You can also start penny stocks or a teen checking account. Awesome. Merry Christmas♥

I ended up getting him a 24" external monitor for his laptop, a wireless keyboard, and one of those lamps that is a globe where you touch it to make the little lightning come toward your hand.
