Last Minute Fastpass Advice Needed

We decided last night to go to MK on 11/19. Obviously, it's going to be busy but I could use some help with a fastpass strategy.

Normally we like to get FP for all three mountains in MK, but if I stick to that plan I can't start my fastpasses until around 5 pm. Is it a better strategy on such a busy day to choose other rides and begin the fastpasses earlier in the hopes we'll be able to get additional FP for the mountains (or other rides) later or should I stick with the evening fastpasses? WWYD?

I would grab the evening fast passes and then try to modify between now and then...

Agree with booking the later FPs and working on moving them earlier if possible. Book the sure things in hopes of modifying them to earlier times...

If you book the latest ones u are stuck not adding new until All are used. Book what you can and keep attempting to modify.
So make ur second choices...

What time did you want to be in MK? If you weren't planning to be there until mid-afternoon anyway, then I'd say just book the mountains for after 5pm and do things like Laugh Floor, CoP, PeopleMover, Philharmagic, etc...until then. If you want to be in there earlier, book anything for the morning and then just modify them to the mountains day of. None of them are really hard to get, even on a busy day.

You have much better luck the day before and the day of. Exponentially better luck. Try from time to time before then because you never know, but the real movement happens last minute.

If you care more about getting lots of FPs, book what you can early and try for the mountains as you go. Either way will probably work for you.

Edited to add, I don't know what your RD plans are, but Splash and BTMR make for a really nice RD.

I agree with this. There are several ways to do it. I think you'll have no problems getting FP+ same day for all of the mountains, they're really not that hard. But if you just want to be 100% sure you've got FP+ for them, then book them late in the day and modify them that morning. Rope drop a few other rides and while you're doing that, be on MDE and modify the mountains. Alternatively (and this is the route I would go), book other FP+ for early in the morning and pick up the mountains as a 4th, 5th, 10th FP+. But neither is a "wrong" answer, they'll both work out fine.

As others have mentioned, you will have much better luck the night before and day of. Last night after reading this I decided to see how long it would take to get the mountains the night before...it took me about 10 minutes to throw this together for 3 people.

Do you think even on very busy days like Thanksgiving week they'll be easy to get? I have never been during a holiday week.

Not as easy as it would be during summer, but not impossible. We were there for both Thanksgiving week and Xmas week last year. I've told this story before, but I got the kids on Space literally back to back during Xmas week. We had finished all of our pre-planned FP+ and were looking for other rides. The kids wanted to do Space, and I wanted to do something with DW (who hates coasters). I don't remember exactly what time it was, but let's say it was 2pm. It took a bit of refreshing, but I got the kids (3 of them) FP+ for Space for 2:15pm. I also got Pooh for DW and I...which was really easy. So DW and I rode Pooh and the kids went off to Space. We got off well before the kids did, so we were just sitting outside of Space waiting for them. I was playing around with MDE and found 3 FP+ for Space for 2:40pm. So they literally got off Space and walked right back in.

I'm sure some of that was luck, YMMV, and all that happy stuff ...but my point is that you can get FP+ for the mountains, even during holiday weeks.

I actually was just playing around with it and found a splash mountain for 10-11, so I now have Splash, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion that I'll be able to get done by around 12 so I can be on the hunt for other fastpasses. I feel pretty good about that really.
