well, My Mom has last minute dental emergency (root canal), so we need to most likely cancel trip.

Tommorrow is 8 days prior to trip (we checkin May 5). What happens if I cancel 8 days prior verses 7 days...

Can't remember the holding rules.

Help please. I've already called the airlines, and we're good there....so just trying to figure out what next.

If you cancel a reservation for a DVC resort between 30 and 1 days prior to check-in, all of the points used to make the reservation will be placed in the Holding Account. Holding account points may not be banked or borrowed, and will expire at the end of your current Use Year if they aren’t used, and the new reservation must be booked within 60 days of your new check-in date.

When are they doing the root canal? I have had 3 and felt fine the next day after all 3. Is she worried she won't feel up for the trip or can't she have it done for awhile?

As far as your points, as Mike said, they will be placed in holding.

Hope everything goes well!

Root canals are easy! Are you sure you need to cancel?

Mom is old... I've done root canal too, and no biggie for you / me, but for her it'll take her out for over a week.

I think these reservations may be in two or more memberships.... so I"ll call MS tomorrow to see what I can do....

Thanks everyone...

I was trying to login to member services to see the reservations, but I can't get into the website.

This could be a real nightmare, depending on the UY's of the accounts. Someone could lose points through no fault of their own.

I don't know how feasible it is for your family, but one option might be just going without her. Or maybe some of the people going without her. While that might not be the optimal vacation, it might be better than losing all the points.

I agree with Mike. I would NOT cancel the whole trip for everyone just because of a root canal. Leave Grandma home with someone else, and the rest take the vacation. It isn't worth the hassle it would be to cancel at this point.

Just curious....You have used the laughing and winking smilies......is this a joke?:confused3

DD had an emergency root canal 24 1/2 hours prior to her wedding, 90 minutes prior to rehearsal. Lots of pain and swelling, looked as if she had had a stroke. Flew to Italy in pain 40 hours later. I know she's young but...leave GMA with a loved one.
