Last minute drivers license question

So, last night I had an Aaaaaach moment.

I realized that my drivers' license address is different than the address I have on all of my stuff. Basically a couple of years ago, they switched to 911 addresses. So, now they do not have rural routes. Well, my license has not been updated since that change took place, so it still has the rural router form of our address and not the street address.

I guess I am wondering if I should run by the dmv and try to get a new one made.

My drivers license had a different address on it for the longest time. In Tennessee, when you renew on-line, they do not require you to get a new license printed - even if you report an address change.

I never had any problem with this when trying to board the ship. I believe they concentrate more on the name and birthdate.

humm... I called last year before our cruise and the cast member said it had to match the address on file. I wonder if this is one of those 'it matters who you call' situations. We moved again this year and went to the DMV on Monday :thumbsup2

You should be fine. No one is going to match your address to anything. If you were using a passport as ID, for example, those don't even have an address on them...

No idea about the cruise specifically, but in PA you can do a change of address online at the DMV site and print out a document that gives the info. Here, that document can be used until the card comes in the mail. Maybe you can do something similar?

YES! If you are flying, you will not be allowed to board unless your drivers license exactly matches your ticket. This means if your full name is spelled out (first, middle, last) it needs to be spelled out on the ticket. If it is just a middle initial, or no middle, it needs to be that way on your ticket and license too.

These are new TSA rules put in place in May of this past year. They call it "Secure Flight". http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/secureflight/faqs.shtm

They WILL check, especially now after the terrorist attack on the airlines. I believe that the cruise lines are the same, but they may be a little more laxed then the airlines.

So the answer is...if you are flying...yes, get it changed. If you are not, you can take your chances.

Secure Flight is being phased in by airlines and it only started going into effect 10/09 and only includes the name on the ID and ticket, it has nothing to do with your address.

To the OP, you should be fine with with the addresses not matching. My FL ID address does not match the address on my ressie and it's fine, I've been allowed to sail and not questioned about the different addresses. They are more concerned with the name and birth date matching.
