Last Minute Cruises....

I hear and read so much about "last minute" travel...where should I look for a last minute DCL deal? How "last minute" is "last minute"...a week or two? I would love to keep my eyes open for them. Are they really better deals that the Early Booking Savings?

I don't think you'll find many, if any, discounts for last minute travel on DCL. Because of the way DCL uses tiered pricing (the more cabins booked - the higher the price), their prices are usually much higher close to a cruise. You'll save more by using Early Booking. An example.... we were originally booked on the 10 day cruise which leaves tomorrow. There is still availabilty for the category we had booked, but the price is over $1200 higher than what we originally booked. Other sailings are even higher..... prices on the the August repo cruise (which is sold out and wait listed) went up almost hourly, when that cruise became available.

We're going last minute but not because of price, just because our schedules all agreed (having elementary, high school & college aged children) But our last minute cruise price seems to be about the same as we paid on our last cruise.

but it was difficult to find cabins close together, the ship must be full because we were waitlisted to get all 6 of us booked, etc.

You should be aware that DCL only books so many kids on each cruise. Its occationally possible for adults to travel last minute when the spots for kids werefilled months ago.

Hi...when I traveled this past January, I met a young lady with her child who had booked 1 month before cruise time and she got it for 625.00 per person, inside cabin. I was in awe as I know my cruise was extremely expensive (although I didnt pay for it). She just had to get her own airfare. She told me that she does it that way to get discounts, BUT....as I look on the site and try to plug in a date approx. a month away....it doesnt work for me lol. I wonder if she went through a discount site....wish I had asked....
