Last Minute Cruises

Where have you had good luck booking last minute cruises? How close to, or how far from, sail date have you booked? We are heading to Florida over February school vacation week and are having a hard time getting a cruise out of Port Canaveral. We are willing to be flexible.

My father is pretty good at doing this.

I like to book my cruises very far out - he did one and spent an awful lot of time on the phone with the booking agent. She explained a lot of how it works to him.

She says that travel agents block out cabins several months or weeks in advance, and then if they cannot sell them, release them about a week to five days out from the cruise.

My parents booked it about five days out - and paid about $250.00 a person for a four day cruise for an oceanview room. At that point, they will give it away.

Try http://www.vacationstogo.com... they have a 90 day ticker and at times up to 81% off list (brochure) prices for cruises.

I really hate being a nudge...especially to a fellow resident of central Mass, but I've already moved the exact same thread over to the DCL boards. This is a Transportation Board...basically nothing to do with cruising other than getting there and back.
I am going to give the OP a chance to see this, then I will be moving this one over to the DCL boards as well.

I didn't really have any feedback on the cruise board so this morning before work I meant to put it on the budget board and accidentally re-posted it here. I didn't know how to move it or delete it.
