OMG I would do it in a heartbeat. I have booked less than 13 days out once. IMO only pros, no cons. It's rare when you can get a decent cruise rate AND good airfare....go for it.
And if you think you may want Palo brunch or dinner just go the first day and see if they have any reservations....they often do, especially for just 2 people.
Have a great cruise. We sailed the Magic out of Miami a few years ago and loved it.
