last minute, cheap, safe, clean

My DH and DS are going to Daytona for the upcoming NASCAR race. I'm thinking of driving down with them and taking our DD. We would be arriving on July 4th and leaving July 7th. My husband and son are staying with family friends so I'm looking for somewhere that's safe, clean, and relatively inexpensive. Does that exist? We've stayed onsite in the past, at Windsor Hills and lastly at Bonnet Creek. My husband would drop us off and drive to St. Augustine so we would be without a car. I'm thinking that the Downtown Disney area is probably my best bet. The cheapest I've found anything is about 90.00 per night at Holiday Inn. Is this the best that I can hope for?

We'll spend all of our time at Disney. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I've been diligently searching ebay for possible Bonnet Creek last minute deals but so far no luck and we really don't need that much space. Just a place to shower and sleep.

If you don't have a car and are only going to Disney parks I would suggest staying in a Disney value.

If you look on Groupon there are a few places that have good direct booking sales that are Good Neighbor hotels so they have shuttles.

I used priceline or hotwire last year to get one night at DTD area. I think we got the Best Western. It was a nice hotel. I do not remember what I paid but I am thinking around $75. I did not know what hotel I got until I submitted to the offer. I did know it was DTD, star rating (I think 3 for mine) and what others rated the hotel. Not sure if they had shuttles. IT was close enough to walk to DTD buses but I am not sure how easy it is to cross that busy road by the buses.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I've never used Priceline or Hotwire before. If it says Dtd area will it be safe to assume they'll have a shuttle or b close enough to walk to Dtd. I would book value on site but it's 175 per night. I can't make myself pay that for a place to sleep and shower. Thanks again.

Okay..... so heres what you do. Go to www.lastminutetravel.com and join thier club. enter the code MAYNOJ for a free membership $50 value. Then put your dates in and narrow search down to areas you want. Sheraron Lake buena vista came up for $76 a night nice hotel but ask for a quiet room if you choose to book there loved the pool.

Thanks Kat. Joined lmt. I see the holiday inn express for 72 with free breakfast and shuttle. I called the hotel and they said shuttle only goes to Epcot. ? Has anyone stayed there and used the shuttle that can verify that? Seems strange to me.

Lots of off-property shuttles drop off only at Epcot and typically have 3 drop off times and 3 pick up times. It doesnt sound unusual at all but its worth confirming with the property directly.

Oh okay that clears it up. We've stayed off property before but have just driven to the parks. I will end up having a car but I'm trying to save as much as possible but it sounds like dealing with the shuttle may not b worth the savings!

Sorry this may be too late for your decision, we just stayed there last week when doing the Sea World family of parks. It was clean, fine for a place to sleep and shower! The breakfast was really nice, the pool was small but nice. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We didn't do Wdw parks so I don't know about the shuttle at all. We drove to DTD and actually drove to park at Epcot (probably shuttles there because its closest) to do the monorail resorts for a meal just for the fun of it. PM if you have any more specific questions about the hotel.

Ended up staying at the holiday inn express on palm parkway. Thanks to Kat (see post above) for the last minute travel site info. I paid about 72 bucks per night and I felt it was well worth it. Ended up having a car so we drove to the parks and didn't us the shuttle. It didn't leave until 8:40 and that was too late for us. Definitely too far to walk to downtown Disney! The hotel was clean, dd loved the pool and slide and breakfast was great! Biscuits, sausage, eggs, bagels, toast, milk and juice etc....kept us full til mid afternoon. Thanks again
