Forgive me as I’m sure this has been addressed many times, but we are in a time crunch so I’m hoping to get a quick response.

We are considering a last minute Bermuda cruise, right before the Covid testing requirement ends. We would be booking a restricted fare, so no changes or cancellations allowed. If one of us tests positive and we can’t go, what happens? Are we out the cruise fare? Refund given? Credit for future cruise (good for how long)?

Similarly, if we purchase travel insurance either through Disney or not with a cancel for any reason clause and need to cancel last minute due to an illness or emergency, is the fare refunded through the insurance even though it was a restricted fare?

Thanks so much for any answers you can give!

Definitely would need travel insurance and if you or someone in your party cancels then you can get a refund, if you can get insurance in time. Disney will only refund your port charges for the cruise, I know this because we had to cancel our Sept 30th to Oct 5th Disney Magic cruise out of NYC this year for a family member illness. DCL would not even allow us to move our cruise to another date without a 300 dollar pp surcharge. That is outrageous. Thank goodness for travel insurance, never go on vacation without it!

If you cancel within 14 days of the cruise date and claim it is due to covid illness or exposure, your fare will be fully refunded by DCL. Even with a non-refundable restricted fare.

If you have a different reason for cancelling, it would need to go through insurance. How much is reimbursed will depend on the plan. DCL's plan will allow for a 75% credit to be used within a certain time (maybe 12 months?). Outside insurance would depend on the plan.
