Last minute anxiety...

Trip leaves soon....like in a week. I'm having some anxiety recently about our excursion in Cozumel. Am I just being silly and overly worried? I mean, Disney wouldn't let us go into a potentially dangerous situation right? It's one thing to put me or my husband out there....but I've got little kids with me. Talk me down, please. Lol!
I haven't heard, are their problems now in Cozumel?

Cabo is a long way from Cozumel. There was a triple homicide in rural North Carolina over the weekend, but I'm not worried about my trip to Hanibal, MO this weekend.

Yes, I agree. Heck, there were homicides in my hometown yesterday, but I'm still going outside.

I just think OP is a new cruiser, with no or limited international experience.

Edited to add: And the OP has a greater chance of being murdered in America than she does on a cruise excursion in Cozumel.

Sounds like you have never traveled abroad especially to Central or South America. Armed guards are the norm. They stand in front of banks and other places of business. You probably will see them in Cozumel but don't be afraid, they are there for your security. Tourist destinations in Mexico have a very visible military presence to detour crime. Tourism is a big money maker for Mexico. Just remember to use your common sense when walking around, just like you would in any city in the US. Just like any port, once you step off the ship you are no longer in the Disney bubble. Relax and have a great time.

Ummm....Sorry you got that impression. I've been all over Europe and many places in the Caribbean. I have never been to Mexico....by choice. The cruise we booked just so happens to be stopping there and I thought I would try and make the most of it and book something nice for my family. Last minute I started having some second thoughts and thought maybe some ppl on here with some experience could help me out.

Thanks for your help as well......

You're welcome! I'm glad I can be of help. Many don't realize what a large country Mexico is. They hear about something in one pocket and they assume there are problems everywhere.

Enjoy your cruise!

Wow! You're way off....thanks for the kindness and help though. Much appreciated! My little to no international travel would include Barcelona, Madrid, Costa del Sol, Brussels, London, Paris, Aruba, Bonaire, Vancouver, Montreal, Beijing, Belize, Barbados, and Morocco. I might be forgetting some, but I think you get the picture. I was curious about a one day stop to a country I've never been. I thought these boards were for help with questions, not to be subjected to such rudeness. I'll keep that in mind for next time though.

Sensitive, much?

No thank you from you for my original post which was to link you to the state department where you can find out how dangerous it may be in your destination.

ALSO, my post was a response to @MUN, not you.

Then, I'm really surprised that someone who has so much experience traveling abroad is not a little more learned about the dangers of international travel.

I don't know how myself or anyone else reading your original post is supposed to deduce that you are such an experienced traveler.

Have a great cruise!

We were scheduled to stop at Puerto Vallarta in 2015 and Disney decided they were uneasy stopping there for safety reasons. Other cruise ships stopped so know that they are extra cautious.
