Last Minute Airline Tickets

What is the latest you have ever bought your airline tickets to WDW? My husband just confirmed that we were going to Orlando (he is attending a wireless conference) in the last few weeks. So, we really did not have the time to budget and research things right away, hence no airline tickets yet for the girls and I (DH had his ticket purchased by his company). In the past we have always planned trips 6-12 months in advance, giving us plenty of time to budget. Prices for flights from Grand Rapids to Orlando are ok right now (about $350 per person for our dates), but we are looking at holding off for a few weeks before purchasing. Is that crazy? Has anybody waited until 14 days out to buy tickets? Any hints on getting a better price?

I haven't done it yet, but might have to if I can convince my hubby to go the last week in April. But I remember one woman telling me on my flight going home from Orlando to Newark, NJ, that she bought her tickets just days before and paid around $170 round trip when I paid $220 months earlier and my mom who bought late (one mth earlier) paid over $600. So, you might get a good price if they decide to go with a bigger flight or discounted places return this tickets because they couldn't sell them.
