My DW and I will be leaving in a few days for our Honeymoon. We plan on doing the tour of SSR at somepoint during the week. I am hoping she enjoys it as I am sold on DVC and just need to convince her. The main positive is that we have several freinds that are members, inlcuding her sister. But then again, that could be a negative ;)

We will be staying at OKW for the week and have noticed many resales that are much more managable and fit our budget better, like the ones for 130 points and under 10K (I know, I still have closings costs, lol)

If anyone has some last minute advice, please pass it along. If not, I do want to thank everyone here. I have been doing tons of research here the last few months and it has been a tremondous help. I will let you all know how it goes when we get back. Hopefully it will be more news then a great Honeymoon.

We bought OKW sight unseen because of the lower points and low maint fees - and the size of the rooms. We just got back and LOVED our stay. The rooms are great - you'll have a lovely honeymoon, I'm sure! Make sure to tell the front desk on the sly (without DW hearing you) that it's your honeymoon! I think if she's on the fence - being there will tip the odds in your favor! SSR was lovely, but if you like OKW - you will be able to get a resale for a reasonable cost and buy a smaller # of points ( we only have 100 there right now). You may not even have to take time out for a tour! Have fun!

If you get a chance, wander around some of the other DVC resorts like BWV, VWL, and BCV to get a feel for some of the other resorts. I agree with the advice of buying where you'd like to stay and since you are considering resale, check out your options before selecting a home resort. Personally, I see a BWV add-on in our future. ;)

Make sure that 130 points will be enough for you. I thought my 170 points would be more than enough when I bought them. I figured I was lucky to have any points at all. Now, I do wish that I had a little bit more. Like 500 more! Oh, I am sorry, I was dreaming for a moment there.

:cloud9:

Good Luck!!! I just can't see how she will be able to resist becoming a DVC member. OKW is beautiful. Then again, all of them are!

::yes::

My first choice would be BWV or BCV as I think the closeness with Epcot and MGM and MK being only a monrail ride away is ideal. We are not at the present big fans of AK but that very well could change when we decide to have children and they get older. But with the higher dues, the bigger contracts in general make those two resorts a little tougher to get.
OKW on the other hand have have lower dues and the resales are tend to be smaller.
I am not too worried about points, yet. I know that is a big yet. But we can always cross that bridge with get to it. Right now I think we are more interested in getting our feet in the door.
Plus, there is always the wait list which from this board seems fairly reliable so we can always stay in the Epcot resorts.

OK, here's my advice. Ready? Forget about looking into DVC on your honeymoon. Wear those great Mickey Mouse ears and hats for brides and gooms and enjoy this special time together as much as you can. There will be plenty of time to shop and learn about DVC for many, many years in the future. You only get one honeymoon.... OK.... maybe you only get one honeymoon with this new spouse.....ok....maybe you only get one first honeymoon with this particular spouse..... nevermind, my point is don't worry about DVC for this vacation. 'cause it's not a vacation, its a honeymoon. In fact, avoid the tour until your acually ready to buy. You'll get a special financing rate with a time limit as a result of the tour if you finance through DVC.

If you want, go to a restaraunt at each of the DVC resorts to check them out a little and enjoy wonderful meals together. Don't let DVC shopping get in the way of your romantic time at WDW together.

Besides, your probably better off coming home and shopping for DVC resales so that you can save some money on your DVC purchase.

That's my advice.

Just wanted to say Congratulations on your wedding.

We also spent our Honeymoon at WDW and had a wonderful time. And like Desperado said...go get those Mickey/Minnie bride and groom hats....it always gives me a smile when I see newlyweds at WDW :groom: :bride:

If the timing is right for a DVC tour then go for it...if not don't worry...it will always be there.

Enjoy!
