Last min trip next weekend

We booked a last min trip for next Friday night and are staying off property. We either wanted to see the show at HS or MK, but it seems like both of those have special events taking place. Is there anyway they light up the castle earlier than the 7pm special event time at MK? What else would you suggest would be great to see Friday night with a 2 year old?

Are you getting park hoppers or no?

Disney has been doing an earlier castle lighting based on the schedule called Frozen Holiday Wish. Check the schedule for the time. I think it has been at 6 or 6:30 p.m.

If you are getting a park hopper, you can go to EPCOT and see Illuminations. I think the Holiday tag has started. If you are not getting a park hopper, you can go to Disney Springs and check out the drone show.

Nice! So do we! Personally, I have a soft place for Illuminations. I have heard EPCOT is amazing around Christmas time as well. You can go around World Showcase and listen to different Christmas traditions (not sure if they continue this in the evening, but I assume they do). This will be my first time to WDW during Christmas coming up, so I don't know everything. I'm just going by what I have heard.

I have seen video of the drone show. I think it's cool, but I know Disney is probably planning better things for this technology in the future.

Frozen Holiday Wish is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd. I have heard this is popular so get there early.

Thanks! We have been to Disney a lot, but this will be a first around Christmas time and I am so excited. Thanks for this info! How does it work with them kicking you out if we aren't doing the Christmas party? Will we have enough time to watch the show then exit?

Yes. The show lasts about 10 minutes I believe. Once the clock hits 7 p.m, there will be cast members checking people for wristbands. If you don't have wristbands, you will be asked to leave the park, and won't be able to go past the checkpoint. You will also not be able to buy any food, merchandise, and won't be able to get in any lines. Basically, the only thing you will be able to do is exit the park. If you want to go to EPCOT or anywhere, I recommend leaving the park as soon as Frozen Holiday Wish is over.

Personally, I would watch the castle lighting and then hop on the monorail and go to EP for the evening (it will close at 9:30 that night). EP is beautiful at Christmas time and Illuminations is really impressive!
