Last few questions--- GAT, Ayres, D23, GK

I have a few more questions before we leave in 10 days---

1) Has anyone attended a D23 event without their membership card? Ours hasn't arrived yet (Since Jan) they are working on it - but I was curious if this has happened before and did they let you pick up your tickets without it?

2) Is anyone familiar with the Ayres Orange hotel shuttle? How do they work out car seats? Do we instal ours and have them take them back to the hotel - do they have loaners??? (There is no WAY I will go without them - not thrilled about loaner either- but I also can't haul 3 around the parks all day.)

3) I made ressies for GK and was thinking that I would like to buy GAT tickets to save money. Do I need to phone dinning and let them know it's pre-paid now? Where exactly do we turn our vouchers in? At the restaurant or???

1. No clue. I would just bring your sign up reciept if you have one.

2. You should probably call the hotel, since you may end up needing a rental car (or switch to a walking distance hotel, but this may be a problem with short notice) in order to keep your kids safely in their seats. Honestly I don't think shuttles will allow use of car seats. They have many people to transport and are not going to wait for you to install and then deal with removing the seats. Maybe if they are just booster seats and take no time installing they will let you store them in the back of the shuttle?? Not sure since they may need that area for others with strollers, wheelchairs, etc...

3. You do not need to call and let them know the reservation is prepaid. You should be able to pick up the tickets at any ticket booth or the guest services window.

I would call or e-mail D23 before you leave and have them FAX something to you that will make it easier for you at the parks. There are no D23 offices at the DLR and on the site it says that you can not pick up tickets without your D23 card and proper ID. I would do eveything I could prior to leaving to reduce confusion on the DLR side. I was at the D23 Expo and they did ask for your cards. The staff there were from the Anaheim Convention Center. They had rules to follow from D23 and knew nothing else.
I would not expect to use my car seats on the shuttles. I have never seen this done. I agrre with samkj if you must have your children in car seats you should rent a car.
As for vouchers at GK, I believe that the staff are so use to seeing them that you will have no problems.
I would make sure and handle all of these questions prior to your arrival so that your stay at the DLR stays magical.

If the shuttles are coach style buses, then there are no seat belts for a car seat. If they are vans, then there would be seat belts. If you need your kids in a car seat, then rent a car. There is no way around it.

2) I'd call and find out. Most shuttles to the park don't have seat belts for car seats. They are like buses. You wouldn't be able to use car seats on them. If this is a problem, rent a car or find a hotel within walking distance.

3) You pick up the vouchers at the ticket booth. You don't need to let Disney Dining know how you are paying. Just present the vouchers at the restaurant. GK collects them when you check in.

For D23 I have asked them to courier at my expense the card - hopefully they will. They were already supposed to have sent it twice.

For the shuttle - we do have a rental car so we can take it no problem. I read that they use vans and have emailed the hotel twice to ask but they never reply. I haven't called because it's one of those things I always remember at like 3am - lol. BUT if it is a bus I am comfortable with that due to compartmentalization. What I won't do is a van and no car seats.

If anyone else is following this thread I got some answers today

D23 will allow you to attend events - pick up your tickets - without your membership card IF you have photo ID AND your reciept for the membership.

Ayres hotel has two types of shuttles both a van AND a shuttle bus. It is either or. They both have seat belts. You can instal your car seats and the driver will take them out for you and take them back to the hotel. He will then bring them back again when you reserve your pick up time!!!! TALK ABOUT SERVICE. I hope it goes as smoothly as reception tells me it will and if it does I had better make sure I have lots in my "tip" fund.
