On our last day we will be leaving The Riviera & have breakfast at Boma, 11:05am. Then need to be at MCO for a 4:15pm flight.

Do we:
  • Take the bus to AK & them the resort bus to AKL with our luggage? About an hour trip?
  • Taxi to AKL with luggage? Approx. cost?
  • Another way?
  • Any idea what time Mears would pick us up there for a 4:15pm flight?
Thank you!

Ubering between resorts when you have luggage is the easiest in my opinion. I select the XL to make sure I'm not trying to sit in the back of a Toyota Tercel with our two large bags but the cost is lower then the hassle of trying to move around with those bags.

I THINK Mears shoots for about 3 or so hours before your flight so it's not the worst idea to have them pick you up there with an 11 am dining. just means you won't be rushed while eating and can spend a couple minutes staring at the animals before heading back to real life.

On your way out of Riviera don't forget to shove a banana bread into your bag. We had one about a week after we got home this past trip and it was sooo worth it.

Disney buses won't allow you to bring your luggage, to that's out.

Working backwards, Mears is likely to schedule your pickup for a domestic flight 3 - 3 1/2 hours before your flight, so let's say 1:00. So you'll need to take a taxi or Uber, with your luggage, to AKL. Then ask AKL Bell Svs to hold it for you (which they should do), and then get picked up there. Be sure to schedule Mears to pickup at AKL Jambo House, where Boma is located.

Or maybe find something a little simpler for breakfast that morning and save some money and hassle?? Just something to consider since the travel home can be stressful enough sometimes...

Thank you for your answer. I chatted with DVC & they said I could take luggage on the bus. Oh well, that changes things.

That's really odd that someone said you could travel on Disney buses with luggage. That's always been a no-no as far as I've understood. The buses are tight sometimes just with people, bags, and strollers - really no room for big suitcases. Riv to AKL isn't a very long drive - maybe $40 or so for a taxi that can carry your family and luggage (just as guess, especially since I don't know how many in your group). Uber XXL from Riv to AKL could work, too - if you have the app and Uber experience - it's very, very easy to schedule morning-of.....

That was your error. Never chat Disney a question, they are extremely competent at matter of factly answering very wrong.

No it isn’t. They chatted. Chat is less reliably than the Disney Bus Driver Rumor Network.

Normally I would say leave the luggage at Riv bell services and just come back, but timing-wise it may feel like you’re rushing to make it back in time for the airport service. And if you’d be at risk of needing to Uber from AKL to Riv anyway, may as well just Uber to AKL from Riv in the first place and use AKL bell services to hold it & get picked up for the airport there. 👍🏻
