Last day dinner before Fireworks Dessert Party?

I'm struggling with a decision about dinner on our last day of our trip. We will be at Magic Kingdom for the whole day and I have ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern at 3:30 and the Fireworks dessert party that night. I thought that would give us enough time for food to settle and be ready to eat sweets! But my problem is if we eat at 3:30 (I'm assuming it will take at least an hour to an hour and a half to eat and get out of there), check in for the dessert party is at 6:45, I don't want to feel like the last half of our final day is spent eating. I also hate to move the reservation to an earlier time, be eating during the parade and/or prime ride time, and everyone be starving by the dessert party and end up sick! Am I overthinking? Any other suggestions?

the dessert party time takes the place of "staking out a good spot for fireworks" time... maybe it's another half hour or so.

But I get it, I have a 4:30 BoG dinner and hoping the dessert party will be moved to 7:45 (the fireworks were at 9 last year, saturday night during president's week and princess half marathon). I am not a huge dessert person and I have read with the plaza viewing you can even show up a bit late... we're not planning to gorge on dessert and are doing it for the fireworks viewing area. I'll probably show up around an hour before, nibble on some fruit and cheese and one or two small things and then enjoy the luxury of the plaza garden viewing area.

You probably won't be super hungry for dessert by the time you get there with a meal like LTT. Maybe you can move it to lunch instead if the desserts are a priority. I have that one booked for lunch right at 11am when they open... last year the parks opened at 8am that day and I figure we will tour 3 hours during prime time then show up for lunch when there is no wait for a table and probably be out in an hour and then resume touring until our 4:30 dinner.

You're probably right...we will definitely be at the park early and will be getting in as much as we can in the morning. Even if the meal takes an hour an a half, we will have almost 2 hours before dessert party check in (we have the garden party, too) to get in the final rides of the trip. I figured I was overthinking! Thanks for talking me off the ledge! HA!

My wife hates more than 1 ADR a day. However,......

On the morning of Christmas Eve, we are first having a partial-buffet brunch at CA Grill that includes sushi and a choice for an additional entree (because the wife loves brunch/mimosas and we stay at Bay Lake). She has already determined that she's ordering the steak so that she can take it back to our room and eat it the next morning for breakfast. Her brunch at CA Grill will be mostly the buffet....because.....

My wife only wanted to spend Christmas Eve at Be Our Guest - so we'll be grabbing a quick protein meal for dinner (the Charcuterie platter is a great value).....because....we're going to the Dessert Party too....and Shula's for dinner on Christmas.

Sometimes, we step outside our comfort-zone for what is 'appropriate' eating.

A Disney vacation seems to be the place to step outside that comfort zone; Disney makes it easy too.

We (a family of 3 most times) typically start our days in the Parks with a Mickey Bar. Everyone gets a few bites of the ears (because they taste better), and children are the most fun-to-watch finish the chocolate. This allows us to negotiate away the candy and soda pops.

I think your late-lunch followed by a Dessert Party is OK. And if the Dessert Party is not a surprise to your family, you should be able to negotiate away those extra treats that everyone wants to grab between meals.

Over the years what works for my family is they want to spend as much time in the parks just really being in the park wandering around, soaking up the magic getting as many pictures as possible... For me if I was planning I would just go the QS route, my family would want to eat at Rays lots of memories and funny stories to retell.... and then end with a the dessert party sorta as the "Pista Resistance" of your trip really making it stand out and be really special... If you have a extra dinning credit and time maybe breakfast with Chef Mickey or at Ohanas...or even Kona or Grand Floridian café...

We have done all of the above...Just a few suggestions. on check out day.. have a magically timepixiedust:

We have a 4:00 ADR at Raglan Road the day we are going to the dessert party. I'm personally not particularly worried about being full because the desserts at the dessert party are largely sub-par (and hopefully people do a better job of keeping their kids from fondling all the food, which isn't particularly appetizing). I'll pick at a few desserts, but I mainly purchased tickets so I'd have reserved seating and not have to fight crowds for a view of the show.

We did a 5 pm ADR at BOG the night of our dessert party. Got there a little early and got seated early. We were done around 6, rode Buzz and walked around. Got to the dessert party between 6:45 and 7, still had time to eat desserts and relax before fireworks.

It is a surprise, but since the kids are older (19,14,12) I had planned to tell them at dinner. It's really more of a "we don't have to fight the crowds to find a great spot AND you have all you can eat desserts!" since our week is looking to be pretty busy.

Unfortunately the only person that is big on breakfast is the hubby! (We will be on the dining plan) Part of my problem was trying to keep from feeling like we spent all day eating and missing out on park time. As of now, we are doing all morning running around the park so hopefully by the afternoon they'd be ready to take a break. It's so hard to know how we are going to be feeling in January after a week being there! :confused3

SAME!!! Not a fan of crowds and we are going the first week of January...I'm a little nervous! Last time we went (Jan 2010), the crowd level was "1" the whole week. This time it ranges from "10" to "5".:crowded:

Sounds like a perfect plan! That's how I'm hoping ours will go...catch the parade, eat an early dinner, and have a little time to do the last few "must-dos" before we head into the dessert party with enough time passing that everyone will actually want to eat treats!

I'd move your LTT meal to a slightly earlier time. Isn't 3:30 dinner only? So, everyone is eating aycte? unlimited ooey gooey toffee cake?!?!
If you do lunch, you could share/eat lighter. They still have the aycte option, but you'd have a little more time.
However, it sounds like a perfect way to end your trip!!!!
