Last cruise before drydock...OK?

We are first time cruisers, and have to put our deposit down soon for our Sept 13 cruise. We will be the last cruise on the Wonder before drydock. Should we change our dates. or will we be OK? Since we are first time cruisers, we don't care if about decor, shows, etc. but if there are ongoing annoying problems that can't be fixed until drydock...

Please let me know your opinion!

You're sailing on the Wonder? Is that this year or next? The Magic is going into drydock this year. I wasn't aware that the Wonder had been scheduled yet. At any rate, I wouldn't worry about this. Drydock is a routine thing for all cruise ships. There should not be any difference to the passengers. Things that would impact passengers would not be left to sit. Mostly drydock is used to do routine maintenance which can't be done with the ship in the water. They also use the time out of service to re-do some public areas which they would not be able to work on while passengers were on board. Don't worry, it's not as if the ship will be falling apart. By any means.

We'll be on the September 20 Magic trip with no worries. I plan on giving the ESPN Sky Box a proper send-off.....

I guess I was confused...it's the Magic going for drydock, not the Wonder? I guess that solves my problem

Yes, the Magic will be in drydock from Sept. 27 to Oct. 11.

I think the Wonder was last in drydock in the fall of 2001, so it's probably due again next year. I haven't heard of a schedule, though.

I'll be on that cruise also. I'll help you with the ESPN Club sendoff if you help with Dueling Pianos sendoff....

I was looking at All Season site today and they are showing that the Wonder will be in drydock from October 3-16, 2004.

We went on the cruise the end of November 1999 and it was a little frustrating because they didn't decorate the ship for Christmas since it was going into dry dock the next week. The service was still great and actually, the crew was in very happy spirits since they were going on shore for a while. It was a great cruise and I wouldn't let the dry dock discourage you in any way. Its not Christmas time so it will make very little difference.

Correction-Sorry, my wife corrected me-it was the end of November 2000. (the mind just isn't the same at this age-it all seems to run together.)

We will also be on the Sept 20th Magic. This will be a fun cruise. Pink Ribbon Cruise/WDWIG is co-sponsoring a breast cancer awareness group on the same cruise. There will be seminars, special lectures and lots of fun and a special guest. Broadway Star Chuck Wagner will be on the cruise with his family. Chuck's resume includes Javet in Les Miserables, Lancelot (to Robert Goulet's King Arthur) in Camelot, Gen. Howell in Kiss me Kate and the title role in Jekyll & Hyde for starters. Of course, he may be best known for over 1,200 performances of Beauty and the Beast, both on Broadway and in Toronto.
Looking forward to the fun...and we will also help give the ESPN Club a special sendoff...
