Hi there everyone. I had thought that this years trip to WDW would have to be put on hold because of various work commitments but now finally I am free for the last 2 weeks in August - ( approx 13/14th- 28th Aug). We would need a 2 bed villa ( 7 of us travelling) and just wondered if anyone would know whether or not we had any chance of getting anything. Home resort is VWL but are not really bothered as to where we stay. I plan on calling member services but just thought I'd check in here first. Any ideas?

It is worth a call. You might be able to get something at SSR. I just called Saturday morning to add another night to my stay at OKW the weekk before you are looking at.

Sending pixie dust-good luck

You may not be able to get one resort for the entire length of stay (might have to split your stay) but it's worth a shot - good luck!

Let us know how you make out.

We did it last year. We booked a last minute trip in July for August. The only resort available was SSR which was fine with us. We had a 2BR lock-off in the Grandstand and loved it. Good luck!

Your chances are probably very good, especially since that is free dining.

You may find it very hard to get dining reservations though but there are plenty of places to eat that do not require them.

I am currently waiting for my DVC resale to close. The seller has 164 banked points from 2007 that will expire July 31, 2009. I'd like to use them, but I can't check resort availability yet because I'm not in the system. July appears to be very open according to the Resort Reservation Availability link. Are my chances as good as they appear?

Thanks!
Kirsten

I would not rely on the resort availability link. It tells you more what is not available then what is. Not everyone that calls posts when they are told no availability. If you see a date listed, it simply means that those dates will most likely not be open (although things change, cancellation, etc.). But, no report, just tells you that no one here from the boards has reported anything about those nights.

I hope that you end up with something as it would be a shame to see those points go to waste! Good luck!

I was just able to book a 2br at SSR for Aug 22-28 and was told there was also availability at OKW for the same dates.
Good luck.

I just got off with MS and only OKW and SSR are available for a 2BD for the last week of August (I was checking 23rd through 28th, specifically).

They didn't even have any partial availability anywhere else.

I would like to stay anywhere within the dates of July 22 - 29. The Resort Reservation Availability link for July looked very light when you compare it with May, June and August. Any insight as to why? Is July not typically a busy DVC month? Too bad there wasn't something similar to that on the DVC website that was up-to-date and accurate.

July is not a peak DVC month, it is hot as hades and points are high.

Well literally a few hours after making this post, friends who were due to travel with us could no longer make it so the trip was off. Until..... decided that we would go anyway.... So i can confirm with a bit of juggling we have a one bed villa at OKW for 3 days then a lagoon view room at the Poly for 4 nights then back to OKW. Ok its a bit messy but beats being in a caravan on a wet south coast of England.
My wife and I are quite looking forward to being back at the Poly, I know ,no whirl pool bath or kitchen but we can relive our honeymoon where we spent the first few days at the Poly back in 1998! Probably be a bit different this year with our 2 beautiful kids in tow! Aloha!!
From what I can rememeber at OKW the rooms are enormous and when we stopped there last we had a great view over to an island green on the golf course!
Thanks for all of your help, counting down the days*
