Seriously? Received an email from DVC.

"Time is running out to take advantage of today’s rate.

We wanted you to be among the first to hear about an opportunity to save at
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s an elegant escape that’s the closest Disney Vacation Club® Resort to the Magic Kingdom® Park.

Become a Disney Vacation Club Member at Bay Lake Tower and lock in today’s price of $130 per Vacation Point before the price increases on March 7th, 2011, to $140 per Vacation Point. That’s a savings of $1,000 or more!

Our Cast is here to answer any questions that you may have, so please feel free to call. We hope you’ll call this Disney landmark “home” for years to come.

Sincerely,

Disney Vacation Club"

Ouch! I wouldn't have bought in for $130, let alone $140! I think that's taking it just a bit too far, don't you?

If they're selling--people will buy. The market will drive the price.

Since we purchased, there have been several price increases at BLT. Makes me glad we bought when we did.

I got the same email. I guess they figure if you can afford it, well then you can afford more. Fuel, food, clothing and Disney gotta have it so prices keep increasing.

BLT is almost sold out, so of course they'll raise the price to get the last few dollars.

I'm really glad we bought @ $92pp in 2009!

Also, I'm really glad we financed for a year rather than waiting, even though people on this site will tell you that they would never finance. We saved quite a bit of money through financing rather than waiting.

Yeah, I'm glad I got in at $108pp. I wish I would have gotten more or gotten in even earlier.

Don't you think that they will give major discounts on that 140.00 price? When we bought the price was 120.00 but bought in at 108.00 due to 12.00 discount pp and VGC was 115.00 with a 18.00 discount making our price 97.00. We will have to see, I too am glad I did buy and and added on at the 108.00 price. I am going to wait a year or so and see what resale has for another 100 point add on, I will not go direct.

Yep, I'm glad we bought when we did too!

Good question about the discounts. We'll have to wait and see what they offer.

I am also glad we bought in when we did. I shudder to think what our 600 points would cost at $140 per.

They will give some discounts but not much. BLT sold much faster then they had expected and they are trying to make the last million points last the summer. I wonder when they will start to ROFR BLT with a vengeance. For every $95 point they can ROFR and open for cash sales will make them a fortune.

What a joke. Why on earth pay anything approaching $140 a pt when it's selling in the 90s on resale?

I bet sales will lower substantially when BLT is sold out. They can always ROFR, but then no discounts to buyers either.

I think prices will hold at 140 for quite some time. They cannot charge 145 -150 pp for SSR and AKV when resale is under 70 and 80$. Bad rounding won't make that one work.

Even if they announced today a new DVC of BLT, or Poly or WLV or where ever it would be 2-3 yrs before they could start selling points. Something will have to give to increase sales.

They have no new resorts in the pipe right now, so if BLT is almost sold out, raising the price makes sense. I think BLT will be picked up in ROFR...there is no reason not to if it is still selling at the direct rates.

As for SSR/AKV, they have begun offering incentives on them again and I suspect you will see BLT being used to market DVC and get people in the door and the deals offered on the other resorts will be good enough to get them to buy there instead. If a prospective buyer sees BLT at 140 and SSR/AKV at 100, they will really look at those resorts as viable options.
