Title may be misleading, but I couldn't figure out a better way to put it. My dd, currently a college freshman, wants to apply to the CP during her senior year...for the fall program. But, she is concerned about what happens if she doesn't make it. So, if she applies in Jan/Feb (whenever the application process opens) and then isn't accepted, does she have any other shots??? She doesn't want to actually do the CP while she's in school. She would have done it her junior year but she will be in London for one semester, so that leaves that year out. And earlier than that isn't a terrific idea.
So, can she reapply later in her senior year and still stand a chance??? Personally, I can't think of a reason she wouldn't get chosen when she first applies, but you never know. And I would love to give her some alternatives if she isn't chosen.
Any thoughts??

My son applied during his last semester, graduated and then reported to Disney for the CP program with his new BS degree. He had to fight the urge to 'extend' the program so he could return to Grad School. Right decision, he graduates in December. He just wanted the experience and although a lot of hard work, it was fun and looks great on his resume.

The daughter of our neighbor did the CP program and took online classes through our local college at the same time; allowing her to graduate on time and work at Disney.

Good luck to your daughter!

PS: I think I read on the official Disney Career site that they allow one to apply within so many months after graduation.

Translation: apply as a Senior; graduate and apply again within 4 - 6 months (if she doesn't make it the first time). You can apply every 6 months.

She can also apply for a Professional Internship (PI) in addition to the CP.
CPs work front-line; PI's are in more management-type roles that are a little closer in line with her degree / interests. You do not have to do the CP first, but PI's are very competitive, so it helps. They probably hire 6,000 CP's and 300 PI's. Rate of pay for PI's is slightly more.

Again - Good Luck!

Thanks. That's kind of what I was hoping for. We both know that if she were to get in, while still in school, she would be tempted to stay there, in Orlando, and not finish school. This way, if she gets accepted, does the program (either one) and then is offered a job, she can just stay there..degree in hand.
She is currently a theatre major..but will be adding a minor or possibly a double major. So, we'll see what her adviser thinks a good fit would be. They've already sent kids on to the CP before...so this isn't a new thing for the school. They are familiar with it. I would imagine that the CP would be her best bet....so, she'll apply in Jan/Feb of her senior year, and keep trying!!!
Thanks for the advice.
