As far as transfering ressies, all I remember doing is e-mailing Donna at DU with my DCL reservation number and she took care of everything. Better yet, If they have some sort of rebate special when you transfer they will apply that to your reservation. It was all very painless.
tchrmom - I like to pay a little each month that way it's not such a big hit when the final paymentis due. I just go to the DU web site, sign on and make a payment. It's so simple even I can do it!
You can make interim payments through DU's website anytime you care to, by credit card of course. You can also snail mail them checks if you'd rather.
After you book on board and return home, just email DU and tell the agent you want them to handle your reservation. They can then take charge of it, and the benefits then are:
- You get their additional $50 discount.
- You get a personal contact who can handle any requests you have.
- You get a gift in your stateroom, usually a nice assortment of goodies, as long as DU has at least 8 bookings on your voyage.
Paul - Please bring extra sunscreen for your trip to Orient beach... hate to burn those sensitive spots. Parts is parts!!!
We are thinking about booking onboard for next October but we are not sure which week we want. Sooooo, once you transfer your reservation from DCL to DU or any other travel agent, can you change the cruise dates and still keep your onboard booking credit?
Rose - Yes, you can. You won't lose your on board credit. We are booked for Oct. 18th next year, so consider this fair warning. (Although we may have to cancel).
Well, it's always fun to pay attention to those milestones that mark the arrival of our cruise, from "6 months away" to "exactly 8 weeks", etc. And with today being the 3rd of Sept... it means absolutely nothing. Ok, that was pointless. I guess I'll check again later.
I booked with AAA. My girlfriend did it last year and had no problems. So far, so good with us. I just called today to see if I have a room assignment, but still nothing.... I guess I have to be patient.
AAA has never been much help, at least for anything other than a flat tire or that time I ran out of gas
Right now some friends of ours are looking to get a group together for an Alaskan cruise next summer. They are working with an agent from AAA. She seems hel bent on putting us on HAL's Veendam, an older smaller ship. No other choices or suggestions, just give me your money so I can reserve the cabins. And that's just this time, I've tried to use them and just didn't find them to be all that helpful.
But I might give DU atry in the future. Maybe we'll be enticed for next year.
Beano- you are booked for Oct 23 next year......are you drinking those mudslides already????
Paul- did I hear you say you are buying mudslides?? you so sweet!!! I am ready!
I think we have a boring group here...no one wants to party or drink or hang out....bunch of stinkers..... (just kidding guys....this group is so fun, I cannot wait to add sailaway drinks to the mix! LOL! )
Beano, I agree with you 100% when it comes to AAA helping on the road. They are useless. I went with them because they had the better price at the time....
Every morning, I sing "44 more days 'till the cruise, 44 more days to the cruise" (insert correct #)
Well, my ds11 and dd8 told me "No More". They say I'm not allowed to sing again until 14 days till the cruise! Could these children come from dh and myself?
(good thing they don't run the show!)
So, I have to know...........any one else out there singing the "cruise song"?
I am into weeks! Like today for example is 5 WEEKS from when we leave for FL!
I am doin the countdown thing too....
Your kids...........are they normal??? Well, kids don't run the show (thank goodness) so they will listen to your song and like it! LOL!! You are paying for this trip not them, so they will have to deal! LOL!!
Fortunately, our kids are far from normal, so we can get away with that kind of stuff. Last year, we spent most of our vacation singing "Henry the eighth" repeatedly.
