LAST CALL for the 10/18/03 Eastern Magic Cruise!

What a great idea. The planning is the next best thing to going. Any recommendations for spa treatments, I didn't get to check it out last year, I was too busy dragging my dh thru every jewelry store in Nassau. I can tell by the postings that you guys give a thumbs up for the massages, did you try anything else worth trying. I saw a special on the travel channel for the Disney Cruise ship, they showed the alpha capsule, has anyone tried it? It looks quite cool.

Anyone can play this game. As long as you play it my way. Thank you.

Sorry about that Spud. My bad.

As far as the spa goes, get a Surial bath with your favorite significant other and play in the mud. For a two person treatment, it is by far the best deal. I would recommend a massage for any guy that likes to have a nice young lady rub you down. I thouroughly enjoy it myself. Ask my wife. I got one last year and I am still talking about it. It was good. My wife loves the spa taster as well. I had a facial last time too. That was great. I never thought that it was for men but it sure as heck is and it is another opportunity for another nice young lady to rub you down again. Thanks Kamgen for letting me keep going.

tarzanman,

written truely with a man prospective. I'm almost scared to show it to my DH, he will be signed up for a massage everyday. Thanks for the advice. I've seen alot written about the Surial bath, it sounds like something to definately try.

:D :D :D :D :D

My dh is right.....the spa taster is my favorite...followed by the surial (cause I get to share my mud time with him!;) )
The spa taster is for men and women and is awesome....1/2 facial and 1/2 massage! Well worth it! :)

Yeah Paul, I think I am the only sane one left....and that is not saying much! LOL!!! :)

I was really excited about getting a treatment or two in the spa until I read several posts about the therapists doing a "hard sell" of spa products after the treatment. Has anyone had any experience with that?

And tarzanman, no problem!!:p But play the game your way, I will.

We were definitely subjected to the 'hard sell' tactics after our spa treatments 2 years ago. It was a real killjoy after such a relaxing experience, but you know what? "Just say no"!
We politely said no thanks, and went on our way. So if you're going to have spa treatments, I would say just expect to get that sales pitch afterwards, and be prepared to say no and move on!
(Unless of course you actually want some of the stuff they're selling).

Love all the witty banter and movie quotes...watch out, DS does a mean Cartman:D

Have any of you seen Pirates of the Caribbean, yet? LOVED IT!! DH & I have already been twice:)

Talk about your quote ops...it is the most fun. Johnny Depp is over the top as Cap'n Jack Sparrow!

Loretta

One suggestion for the suriel bath...... take a water-proof watch. You MAY loose track of time, if you are doing it right. If you are in the steam section, you may not hear the 15 minute "warning" knock. DH and I decided last year that the next time, we'd bring one in with us........just in case;)

Another thought on the suriel bath...............
In the spa info that they give you when you are deciding what to do, the suriel bath states that it is for 2 or 3! Anyone besides me think this is funny, coming from a Disney Cruise?;) :D ;) :D

Surial bath for 3...That is an interesting suggestion coming from Disney...

But what do you expect from such a Mickey Mouse operation.

I know Tim and Kamy have seen Pirate's too, so I guess we'd better go see it soon so we're not out of the loop!

Loretta, your son will have a tough act to follow, Tim does a hilarious Cartman! I can hear him now...

"--rew you guys, I'm goin' to the spa!!"

'Beano'

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean last week and thought it was great!

Tim - How could you stand another woman touching you. It must have really been awful! LOL!!!

Paul

Okay Paul, that's enough...LOL!! Just kidding! :)

My experiences in the spa have not had any hard sell tactics...sure we are offered products and so on, but nothing pushy...I think it depends....but some of the products are great! :)

POC is awesome! Tim and I took my dad (well, actually, my dad treated! :) )
It was so good!! And Orlando Bloom is so hot! LOL! :)

I can't wait to meet all of you! This is gonna be a great cruise!

Well I hope I can resist the pressure after being totally relaxed in the spa!

I've got another question for you experienced cruisers. With the big dress code debate, I thought I 'd ask for your opinion on dinner attire. How dressy do you get for formal and semi-formal nights. Do you wear guys tuxes and ladies wear gowns or are you a little more laid back??

Spud,
Last year dh wore a black suit and I wore a formal (strapless/floor length dress). I did not see many men in tuxes at all, but many women were dressed in gowns. I love getting all dressed up! :)

We usually adhere to the dress code...and it bothers us when people (and they DO) show up to dinner in shorts, tank tops, swimsuits with coverups, etc.... but oh well....

Speaking of formal night...I need a new dress! :)

We adhere to the dress code too, but to as little extent as possible for me! I have to wear a suit every single day; one of the things I love about vacation is being able to relax in comfortable clothes. So, no tux for this dude... I'll wear a suit on formal nights, and get out of that sucker as soon as possible!

And Kamy is right, many people ignore it altogether. The next guy I see in Palo wearing shorts is getting tossed overboard!

'Beano'

I second that Beano...I personally think that if you disregard the dress code that severly, you are disrespecting the other passengers. I mean, DCL offers dining options if you don't want to get dressed nice for dinner...so they have a choice there.....
JMHO!

Ah, the age old dress code debate;)

Spud, I hafta agree with kamy and beano-

We enjoy being able to dress up for the formal nights. It's fun and makes it seem like an occasion. I agree with the whole "it's my vacation" theory, but there are plenty of options for those who don't want to be bothered with formality:) I think that's always the picture I had in my head about cruising, that it combined alot of fun stuff with the chance to put on the Ritz a few times.

Our last cruise we saw about half of the men in suits or sport coats on formal nights. The other half was split between tuxes and the theme park casual (ahem!) look. Most of the ladies were dressed up, not always formals, but very dressy pants outfits or cocktail dresses.

My husband will go for a suit on those nights. I will probably have one floor length and one short dress.

I even think guys could were a shirt and tie, maybe a vest , on those nights and not feel out of place. Just leave your bathing suit, jeans, flip flops and wife beaters in the closet those nights;)

Bottom line, I think attitude is everything. You're on vacation. If dressing up sounds like another fun aspect of it, go for it...it's your night to shine and where else can you get your pix with an equally spiffed up Mr. & Mrs. Mouse;) ?!

Remember there are other themed nights as well, and you don't have to participate in that , either. Although most folks don't balk and putting on something tropical...kinda like going to a Jimmy Buffet concert
:D

October is a great time to go on a cruise! You can hit all the end-of-summer sales and get some great bargains:)

Loretta

P.S. Kamy, isn't that Orlando a yummy little thing! LOL! DD also thought Johnny Depp was too sexy!! Well in a dirty , rotten scoundrel kind of way! LOL! That shot of him in the trailer...

(Orlando Bloom-
"Here they come!")

(J.D-
says nothing, looks over shoulder, puts pistol on said shoulder and grins... OOOOH! so very cute! Savvy!?)

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm looking forward to dressing up on formal night, I just wanted to know how formal people get. My husband will wear suit (there's no way I'd get him in a tux) but I'm hoping to wear a floor length dress. Now I just have to find time to go shopping.

Loretta- yes he is yummy! :)

I plan to hit the sales for a dress once summer is over...something floor length and small straps maybe! I love to get dressed up! :)
And my dh looks smashing in his suit! :)

I always wear a black suit on formal nights. I (unlike Beano) dress like a bum at work so it doesn't hurt me to dress up once in a while. DW always wears some nice dress (usually borrowed from her mom) on formal nights. I've seen guys in wife beaters on formal night and I just say if it doesn't bother them then I shouldn't let it bother me. Hey, I'm on vacation and I'm going to relax!!!

Paul
