For those of you that regularly go to WDW in August, are the last two weeks of August usually busy in the parks?

Yes. But less so than the two weeks before. The very last week is the best but it all depends when most US schools go back. This year should calm down around Sunday 25th, but with Labour day on 2nd September that weekend will also be busy. The week starting the 19th will be a bit quieter than the preceding week.

what scoobydooby said...
though i don't think labour day weenend will be too much trouble as the northerners don't want to miss opening day of school (most northern states go back to school right after labour day), so they have much less of a tendency to go on long distance trips that weekend (they'll go away to their summer cottages if anything)..

in general however, the crowd level at WDW has been going steadily up even during normally quiet times...
but it's definitely true that the second half of august is nothing like july!!

we much prefer the second half of august to july....
although as far as heat goes, it's just as deadly!!!

I didn't think the last couple weeks were too bad. It did quieten down a bit the last week of the holiday.
Weve been in May and it seem just as busy as then. :)

We went the last two weeks of August last year and are doing the same next month. To be honest we found the crowds no problem at all it Magic Kingdom on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend was very busy - but not horrific.

As we are restricted by school holidays due to teenagers I think this is the quietest 2 week period you can go without encroaching on term time.

I'm a teacher and totally agree with this. We married on August 17th and will be back for our 5th anniversary next year, from August 24th to 31st. Hoping things don't alter too much with the introduction of Fastpass Plus!

Thanks, we haven’t been much in August, so wasn’t too sure what to expect. Not too long to wait now!

Just wanted to ask how the last two weeks in August compares with England's October half-term? I loved October/November but it's not an option next time. I know it will be hotter but how do the crowds compare?

I let you know! We have always gone Oct/Nov time, Our upcoming August trip is new ground for us.

I have been to Disney at the end of August many times and I find that the lines can be ok or they can be a nightmare.
Soarin, Toy Story Mania, Space & Splash Mountains,Test Track can all have lines that are over an hour long. TSM fast passes are usually all gone by noon and Soarin passes are usually gone by mid afternoon.
In the past the popular restaurants would be nearly impossible to get in to due to the Free Dining but this year's Free Dining starts September 2nd so it should be easier to get reservations.

On a note about reservations - last year we decided at the beginning of August to change a dining reservation to Rose and Crown on a Saturday night at 7.45pm to coincide with Illuminations - we had booked via the US site with Free Dining and had no trouble making this reservation with just under 3 weeks to go.

Free dining for UK guests includes the whole of August.....

We used to visit every October however same again as one of children is now in senior school last year was our first August trip and guess what. We loved it !!!!

Yes it's definitely busier but plan right and you will be fine. As long as we ht the parks early everything was walking till about 10.30 ish. The parks are open later, they have extra little events like the beach party from the recent film this year at Typhoon Lagoon which my kids are currently crazy about. You know what your getting with the weather, yes it hot and you will get a shower nearly every afternoon, but for us we've had temps from 34 to 9 degrees in October in the same three weeks!

I personally also think it has a special buzz about it too!

If I had the choice again, I'd probably opt for August over October xxx

Our only (so far) trip was August 25- Sept 4 last summer. It got busy over Labor Day weekend but was OK otherwise. The fact we had no problem being out in the rain actually meant we had a whole morning we walked onto rides while everyone else hid from the rain.

Wife and I are going 19th - 2nd Sept.
3 boys, 5, 2 and 5 months!

Hope it is not too hot and busy!

Going next year for in the 2 last weeks of August and i am worried that it will be busy

I normally go 2nd week of Sept but we have teachers going with us this year
