I know I have a long time untill the date but I am trying for the past year to lose the LAST 10 POUNDS and it won't come off!!!!!! I don't know what to do.
I am on WW and it is working great. I lost the initial 35 lbs from South Beach and then switched to WW. Any advice for the last 10??

It really is the most annoying in the world?

And another thing----why is my scale always 5 lbs different from the grocery store and dr.s office???? Even if the scale is new and set fresh, it doesn't matter...always a difference. :guilty:

Congrats on the first 35 lbs. I'm not sure why home scales are sometimes different. I wish I had some advice to give you about the last 10 lbs. Unfortunately I'd have to follow my own advice if I gave it. Good luck though!

I'm not sure what you're currently doing, so here are some shots in the dark:

What about trying to cut down on sodium? It can cause you to retain more water... and that can add up to some pounds! Try to eat less processed foods, and make more things from scratch/fresh if possible. Really watch the sodium and sugar contents on those labels.

Or, you could switch things up! Your body may need a switcheroo. For example, take pasta and potatoes right out of your diet... OR add some more healthy fats, such as nuts.

Are you avoiding enriched flours and hydrogenated oils?

How about not eating after 8pm? (Personally I can't manage that one! :rotfl: )

How about some extra exercise or a different kind of exercise (again to kickstart the system).

And when all else fails, trying going OFF any restrictions for a couple of days and start again later to reboot the metabolism.

GOOD LUCK!!!!! :goodvibes

Firstly congratulations on the 35 lb loss that is a fantastic achivement!! Well done :thumbsup2 I happen to be in exactly the same postion as you. I've been on Slim Fast for over 2 years now. I've lost a lot of weight but i still have about 10-14 lbs to go and they are coming off extremely slowly!!! I used to lose about 3-4 lbs a week. That dropped off to 2 lbs a week and now i'm lucky if i lose 1 lb a week!!!! It is i agree the most annoying thing ever!!!!!!! The only advice i can offer is step up your cardio excercise. I'm planning on getting a personal trainer after Christmas for the 5 months running up to our wedding so he can push me to my limits. I just wanted you to know you are not alone in your ''last little bit of weight be gone'' stuggle. Good luck :)

I try to stay out of threads like these b/c this is what I do for a living... but when people are having difficulty losing the last 5-10 lbs it is usually b/c they are not consuming an adequate amount of calories or b/c they are burning too many calories. Low cal diets only work for a certain amount of time, then your body goes into starvation mode and saves all the energy that is consumed. Or, your body may be happy w/ your current weight. Good luck :)

I agree with JJClemson. My own personal experience has been that it is a fine line between restricting calories to loose weight in a healthy way and going on various low cal diets.

It was my goal to lose 10lbs before the wedding, which doesn't seem bad right? Except for the scale never seemed to budge. When September came I decided it was time to "get serious". I cut out sugar, limited caloric intake to 1500 calories a day (obsessively calculating the calories in my head), and I worked out like a fiend. A month went by and I didn't loose a pound...I was miserable. DF (who happens to be personal trainer, but who doesn't train me because the last thing I need him doing is caliper measurements - UGH) had told me that I wasn't consuming enough calories, but I didn't believe him. I hestitantly added sugar back into my diet, exercised pretty much daily (but moderately), implemented an "off day", upped the calories a little, and committed to try not to eat past 8PM whenever possible. I'm happy to say those 10 pounds are gone along with 5 more. It seems that 8PM thing really did the trick for me.

What I've learned is that not everything works for all people and to try and figure out what will work for you, and to be patient. Regardless you should celebrate those 35 lbs, because that is a GREAT accomplishment.

Way to go!
