Laser Hair Removal - Has anyone tried?

I won a $300 coupon at a bridal expo for American Laser Centers. Has anyone had hair lasered off, or does anyone know of the precautions or possible negative outcomes? I'm always leery of stuff like this since I don't believe it has been out too long to see the long-term effects. I have a consultation Monday just to see about pricing and options, and to appease the American Laser Company who calls me nearly every day! Part of me is curious anyway.

Thoughts/Advice?

Precautions are must not be tanned or burned, which this is the VERY important one. Your skin can get damaged otherwise.
And you need to take care after with sunblock.
