Hello my fellow Disers. Anybody been to Las Vegas recently? Tell me all there is to know. Any good deals out there? What's a good place to stay? Hubby wants us to go sometime in the next couple weeks or so for a few days.:cool1: I thought maybe he would want to save this trip for our anniversary in September but who knows, maybe we can squeeze 2 trips in this year.

I just got back two weeks ago - Vegas was fantastic as usual.

Tell you everything about Vegas? That's a bit much. Let me point you to two websites to get your started...

First, for general reviews on all the resorts, you can't go wrong with www.cheapovegas.com

For ideas on what deals are available, see http://vegashotelspecial.com/

General advice:

Weekdays are much cheaper than weekends. If your schedule is flexible, you can save a lot of money by going weekdays.

For a first visit, you best bet is usually one of the resorts on the strip between the Wynn and Mandalay. That said, for some people near-strip works for folks who need to save money or plan to do some day trips.

A great place to ask specific question is the DIS's own California and the West forum. You can also find some good advice in old threads and stickies.

We just got back from Vegas last week. My DH had a class there and since I am no longer working, I tagged along since I had never been there. One hint....comfy shoes!!! There is no place to sit in Vegas and you walk MILES a day!!! The strip is much longer than it looks since the resorts are huge, places look closer than they really are!! We stayed at the former Barbary Coast ( now Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon) and it is a hidden gem on the Strip! Very clean and friendly and SMALL! Best location on the strip....next to Flamingo, across from Cesars's, Bally's, and the Ballagio. We could see the Ballagio fountains from our room. We saw Legends, did a Hoover Dam trip, and lots of sightseeing (we are not big gamblers!!) and shopping. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I will see if I can help!!

Glad to hear you liked Bill's. It is pulling great reviews and is currently rated #9 in Vegas on Tripadvisor. I just booked it myself for next month, and the weekday rates for that period are $70-90 night, which makes it a great value.

After seeing the size of the mega resorts and the distance you had to walk to get ANYWHERE within the hotels, we were soooo grateful for Bill's. Don't miss Big Elvis who performs in the lounge weekday afternoons. He is very good! Seattle's Best has decent coffee and danish in the AM's and the Victoria Room has a very good menu for dinner. Everything else you need is within walking distance!! Our best meal of the week was at Kokomo's at the Mirage and the Paris buffet was great too!

Thanks for the tips! This is my second trip to Vegas, and I love the place! My sister and I are taking our mom, who has never been to Vegas, so it should be a classic trip.

If you are willing to stay off strip, Sam's Town has some great prices! During the week you can get a room for $39.

They've got regular shuttles to the strip. And they've got a shuttle to and from the airport.

My brother has stayed several times and recommends it. Plus the reviews on Trip Advisor are good. And you definitely can't beat the price!
