Las Vegas with kids question

Keep in mind that the casinos are looking for and attracting the new and casual gambler. Slot machines are by far the most profitable game for the casinos. New and casual gamblers play lots of slots.

It's a combination of that and high rollers at various table games. There's a reason why there's so much mini-baccarat these days, since that's the preferred game of Asian and Asian-American gamblers. Also - they're hoping to cultivate smaller gamblers who might have more income later on, so it's a long game they're playing with $10 tables.

That is the reason behind the shift from gaming tables to electronic versions as well.

You can't walk through a casino without the bubble craps machine asking you to push the button.

No need to interact with anyone like you would at a craps table.

Oh - one place that might be fun is the Ethel M candy factory in Henderson. The have the cactus garden there, and in the months before Christmas they have lights.

Not sure how long they're going to require reservations though. I looked it up and right now the reservation fee is $5 although I'm not sure if samples are included.

We went to the Ethel M factory over the summer. Their chocolate bars are so good. I liked the dark chocolate mint bar.

Well - it's just Mars since it stands for Ethel Mars. However, they probably have the best mass-market chocolate made in the US. I'd say better than Ferrera and way better than Hershey's.

I didn’t know this. I thought it was artisan chocolate.

They're a lot like See's. They're a candy maker although they're owned by a big company that does make chocolate. Even Hershey's has some high end divisions. But the Ethel M store in Henderson has other Mars stuff like an M&Ms section.

However, I don't believe it's necessarily the same grade of chocolate that goes into M&Ms or Snickers. The milk and dark is pretty similar to Dove. I don't know where else Mars uses white chocolate so they must make it just for Ethel M. It's good though. There's no reason why a company like Mars can't make chocolate that's really, really smooth.

I went to Vegas with my parents when I was 12. Stayed in the MGM Grand no enjoyed the three W’s. Best trip ever.

This was a very useful zombie thread. I take kids to Vegas every year because of family there, and I didn't know a lot of this.
