Las Vegas to Disney land

In your case I doubt it. The cost of parking you car in LV, a shuttle and taxi may be more than the gas to drive to LA from LV. Plus you would need a lot of tickets.

While some people spout how they get these cheap tickets, they are just like Southwest, tricking people into thinking it's a great deal. You need return airfare too and to pay the taxes.

Another thing to consider is the time driving to DL from LV. Time on road 3.5-4 hours. With stopping 4-4.5 hours.

Flying, 20 minutes to the airport. 15 for parking if not using a cab or shuttle. 2 hours of checking in, security and waiting. 1 hour in the air. 20 to pick up bags, and 20 to get to the hotel. 3.65 to 4.25 hours

Time wise they are really comparable, pricewise they are not.

Good points :wizard:

Another option to consider...there is a motorcoach service between Vegas and Disneyland, which by the time you figure transport to the airport, etc could be just as inexpensive as flying, without a bunch of the hassle. We just took this ourselves last month, and I thought it was great. They picked us up at our hotel, dropped us at Harrah's, and it was a great ride. I did a full review of the experience here if it's of any help... Note we did your route in reverse, they do the same between Vegas and DL...

This intrigues me. I wonder if it'd be cost effective to NOT rent a car from Utah..but instead drive our car to las vegas and then fly to California from Las Vegas. HmMMmm

We are flying round trip Jet Blue from Salt Lake for a total of $110 with tax. You just have to watch the fares.... We Priceline bid on cars and usually end up with a car for around $13 per day plus tax. We NEVER stay at a hotel that has parking fees.

The way I look at it, is my time is worth money. If I can bank two working days that I would have spent driving two and from, and it either saves me money or is close to a wash, it's justified. Heck, even if we're $100 over driving (we rent cars for the drive too!), then it's all good.

Being from Ohio, my family found the drive from LV to Anaheim interesting. DH loved it so much, he wants to do it again.

We have made the drive several times now and I don't find it scary at all, you don't really notice you are at a higher elevation until you look at the GPS. It's an easy drive. No worries.... :) Just plan your drive times appropriately like everyone said to avoid any major traffic

We live in Vegas and make the drive frequently. (Including today!) It's very easy. However, I will say my DH is very afraid of heights as well. The first time we made the drive he was a little white knuckled somewhere around Barstow, where the road goes down and winds. But he hasn't had any issues since. I think he was just afraid it would get worse than what it was, but now he knows it's not a big deal. Also, whatever you do, do not leave Vegas on a Sunday night or return on a Friday night. Heed this advice, or your trip length will double in time. Sunday mornings are a great time to travel. We left Vegas at 7 AM yesterday and got to Anaheim at 11. We came back this morning leaving at 9:30 and got back at 3, but we had TERRIBLE weather (very rare) and also stopped for an hour for lunch.

By the time we rent a mini van (500ish) and then pay gas (heavens only knows)..you may be right. Straight from SLC instead of from Vegas...We'd also save hotel stays way there and way back. Goodness...:headache::laughing:

We are doing this! - $34 seats to LAX though!

good find, but i do recommend SNA. Shorter and easier drive to DL.

spout:confused3of course there are taxes/fees! Our total for 2 people was $91.40, less than price of a car rental/gas from LAS.

Another thing to consider, one that many natives of LA will scoff at i'm sure;), is that their freeways can be scary stuff to noobs. Even those of us who have braved the D.C. beltway. My DH, who still has a CDL Class A (i.e. can drive an 18 wheeler) from a past life, flatly stated he refused to drive on any DL trip there-ever after the wild ride heading home up to LAX.

I agree SoCal freeways are not for the faint of heart. It depends a lot on the time you travel and the whims of the traffic gods. I lived there for many years and even now when I have to drive there I often end up at my destination as a bundle of tension.

Wimps! :goodvibes One thing I know is from living here all my life is that I can drive anywhere and nothing phases me. I like to drive in Philly, because everyone honks there. :confused3 It was fun. If you honk at someone here, you better be ready to defend yourself.

lol, i think;)

hydroguy - i was in line last trip @ Mr Toad:cloud9:and was chatting with a family who told me they haven't been on anything but surface roads in years. Conversely, ran into old classmate today in dr's office. He lives in San Diego (hates disneyland:rolleyes1). A construction engineer who currently makes the drive to LA every day for a project. He said it's not uncommon, lots of folks make same sort of commute.:confused3No wonder the highways are jammed.

Everyone has given me great views of all my options. I can honestly say,
" I CAN"T DECIDE!"
Since this is my birthday trip I am going to make my hubby decide. I am going to send him a link to this post. Thanks for all your help:worship:.
