I asked my DH if he has heard of this and other shows mentioned here. He has. I asked him why he didn’t mention these shows for our trip and he responsed he didn’t think they were appropriate for the teens. It was a family trip for us. Maybe next time...

Been to LV 6 times and have stayed at many places (Caesars, Bellagio, Flamingo, Luxor, Stardust, Orleans, TI and Golden Nugget). Of those, I choose to stay at Golden Nugget multiple times due to the location and value.

There is a hidden gem of a restaurant on Fremont Street, but most folks I've spoken to don't know it's there.

Shows: Had front row for Celine (her first tour) at the Coliseum and was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. Fountains at Bellagio, Volcano at Mirage and also the secret gardens of S & R (not sure if it is still there). Be sure to go to Fremont Street for the night show. I will say that the best pancakes I have ever had was the California hotel on Fremont. It is another off the path eatery that offers a great value.

Casino Royale was easy to play low table games, especially in the AM. MGM has to be the biggest casino floor space I have ever seen.

Did the Hoover Dam bus tour (it was OK, just not my thing). Did the helicopter night strip ride (it was good). Did the bus and plane tour of Grand Canyon (very good, but the bus trip takes ALL day).

Italian restaurant that is a must do, for me, is Battista's Hole in the Wall.

DH & I are going for a long weekend in Oct. I'm surprising him with tickets to his favorite band, Blink 182, who will be doing a residency at the Palms Resort. Has anyone ever stayed there? I booked a room there since I figured it'd be convenient to be there for after the show and not have to worry about transportation. We'll Uber to the strip and Fremont Street and check out some of the casinos. We're not big gamblers, so will probably only spend $5 or so at a time in different places. I'm interested in doing one of the buffets and have seen Bacchanal (sp?) mentioned a few times. I'm interested in any and all tips since neither DH or I have been to Vegas in about 15 years.

Hi all! I've been searching for a Las Vegas board as awesome as this one, but no luck!
Anyone have any tips for us? DH and I heading to Sin City for the first time in May to celebrate our 15th anniversary.
Neither of us have ever been. Flights are booked, direct from NOLA via Southwest. We are staying at Bluegreen Club 36 near the MGM Grand (a gift from his parents via their timeshare). That's pretty much all I have figured out.
I'm debating on getting the Go Las Vegas card. I did purchase a Groupon for the Caesar's Palace buffet, which looks amazing! I know we want to do the Hoover Dam tour, as DH is an electrician and that's right up his alley. I would also like to see Zumanity.
Anything else? Any coupons or deals to share?

How fun! One of my bucket list vacations. Off the top of my head what I am planning to do when I go...

I would rent a car for a couple of days if you do not have one. Saves a lot of time, walking on your feet, tiredness, etc. and you can jet up to Hoover Dam & other stuff for the day if you feel like it. We will have a car for the whole time as I cannot walk long distances anymore. Found that out on a recent trip to DC I took.

I would make a dinner reservation at a upscale restaurant if you are a foodie. TONS of them in one city for every palate.

Of course seeing a show or concert is a must. Maybe you will get lucky and have a celeb in town that you both like. I might even plan it around that when I go.

We don't drink or gamble and we don't like Vegas. We used to go several times per year. We lived in SoCal and DH's family would come from the mid-west every winter, so we would meet them there. And DH and I would typically have conventions there for our jobs (those we went alone.)

Once you have seen the hotel themes, been to a couple of shows, etc.....it just isn't very exciting. And when we took young kids, they couldn't go into much.

But obviously most people don't share my opinions......

If you don't gamble, its repeat value is limited. Once you've seen everything, you've seen it. There are enough shows though for a few trips. Unfortunately, we're not seeing any new themed resorts lately.

The Palms has new owners who are pumping a lot of money into renovations. I would keep an eye on a Vegas centric board to keep abreast of the construction and changes going on there. Trip Advisor Vegas discussion does have a lot of people who are very familiar with Vegas and could possibly offer up some info.

I'm not clear if you have or have not visited Vegas before, but wanted to make you aware that a car may not be enough to assist you in simply walking the massive hotels. Aside from gaming you may find seating scarce to take a break. Scooter rental might be a consideration.

Don’t let any car service from the airport loop you around the 215 to the 15 just to get to the strip. Tell them to take Paradise to your destination. A lot of these services take advantage of tourists not knowing where they are going.

If you can definitely rent a car. Gives you way more freedom to explorer. Doesn’t cost much. In the summer it pays to valet park too because your car comes around with a/c on full blast.

For off the beaten path casinos/hotels, I highly recommend Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock Casino. Crowds are mostly locals and it’s more relaxed. Not too much party crowds. Green Valley Ranch has the District nearby. Red Rock has Downtown Summerlin nearby.

Foods: In & Out Burger if you haven’t had it. Mmm animal style. Hash House A Go-Go for the biggest breakfast of your lives featured on Triple D. Texas De Brazil at Town Square. The 2 major buffets are Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan and Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars. Lots of Celebrity chef restaurants to choose from too.

Shows: Tons of free stuff, Bellagio fountains, Mirage Volcano, inside the Caesars Forum Shops, etc.

Museums: Neon Museum, The Springs Preserve, The Mob Museum, Pinball Hall of Fame.
