Las Vegas is no longer marketing itself to families. Families go, many have a good time. There are things families can do.
I wouldn't call Las Vegas kid friendly. Hotels generally charge if you have more then 2 adults in a hotel room. Many (most?) Vegas hotels charge extra for more then 2 in a room, even for kids. Some hotels even charge if the 3rd person is an infant. Bellagio only allows kids under 18 in the hotel under limited circumstances.http://www.bellagio.com/under18policy/
The theme park behind the MGM is ancient history. Star Trek Experience is closed. The pirate show at TI is now adult themed. You pay one price at theme parks like Disney. You pay every time you ride each attraction in Vegas. Cirque shows aren't cheap. Admission charges for roller coasters, arcades etc. add up quick. Kids eat free promotions aren't that common. Adult entertainment is prevalent.
Again there are hotels that work for kids. There are activities a family can do. BUT I wouldn't say Vegas is kid friendly.
