We're up early and on the road to Las Vegas before it gets too hot. The temps have soared since we first arrived and the aircon is on full in the car. The drive is a complete change from yesterday. No pretty green fields and trees here, just scrubby brown desert for miles. We pass the huge Airforce Base and enter L.V. from the top of the strip. There's a massive amount of construction taking place including a Premium Outlets that will open later this year. We take a couple of wrong turns round the Convention Area which is also being expanded and pass the posh Fashion Show Mall which is also like a building site. The upside of all this is that each time you visit there is something new to see so musn't grumble. We finally drive right down the Strip to the Luxor which is where we'll stay for our last 2 nights. We've stayed here before but the place now has 2 huge towers of rooms as well as the original Pyramid. We are offered a choice which is nice so opt to stay in the Pyramid again with it's quirky Inclinator lifts which make the wheelchair roll! The rooms all open onto galleries giving a view into the heart of the Pyramid and we take some shots before setting off to do more sightseeing. It's back to the wheelchair and the bumpy pavements but we're determined to see all we can. Armed with bottles of water each we head for lunch in the Forum Shops and a look around "Paris" before returning via M&M's World to buy gifts for our Grandchildren. A VERY long Limo passes by with some small girls hanging thru the sunroof -this proves to be a 10 year old's birthday party -no comment!
Our last stop is the Flamingo Hotel where a free show is regularly acted out in the middle of the casino floor. One of the acts is 2 young men hanging from a strap which runs along a ceiling track while they perform acrobatic manoevers with no safety net. I wonder what the insurance costs!
I'm overtired again so Keith has to eat alone which he doesn't like but a Mexican Meal and a few beers went down very well I understand.
Our last full day dawns hot & sunny again. We particularly want to see the Venetian Today which is new to us so head there first to see the Gondolas on the lake at the front queing to pick up passengers who float away into the Hotel . The architecture is just amazing on all the Hotels but this one is particularly beautiful. The entrance hall has spectacular paintings on a vaulted ceiling - this may not be the real Venice but it certainly takes some beating. The hall leads to a row of indoor shops with the canal running thru the middle and being Saturday it's not long before the first bridal party float by. Sitting opposite to them is the Minister and they are taking their vows on the Gondola as they glide along. Presumably they have no guests or family with them unlike the next Bride and Groom who's family gather excitedly on a bridge with cameras poised. The Bride & Groom eventually appear , the Groom in Navy dress whites looking like a Movie Star!
It only needs Elvis crooning now and I'm sure he's doing that somewhere today.
We wander around the shops and plazas for ages but then hunger pangs start so we make for the Mirage for a champagne brunch then move on to see the magnificent Conservatory in the Bellagio where more Brides are posing for pictures and the fountains make an arch over the immaculate flower beds.
We stay out long enough for darkness to fall so we can see the Mirage "Volcano" and the Bellagio Water Ballet but have to call it a day as I'm really tired again.
Our last morning starts with a lovely breakfast in the Luxor and a checklist of all we haven't managed to see this time. The Fremont Street experience, The Pirate Battle at Treasure Island, The dolphins and white tigers at the Mirage, The amazing Shows, The shops, and on and on the list goes. We'll just have to come back again-lol.
The view from the Airport Departure Lounge looks over the tarmac to the Hotels on the Strip and has a bank of slot machines which produced our only small win of the trip $25! Never mind it may not pay for our next trip but it was a nice ending to a fantastic trip.
Give it a try- You'll love it!!!!

These hotel's sound wonderful.

Thank you for taking the time to post these lovely reports :D

Carol, I've loved reading your report. You put so much into it - as you do your holiday - it's been a pleasure to tour with you.

I've loved the views and scenery but think we'd need all of any visit to visit all those marvellous hotels in Vegas.

Thanks for such an enjoyable report.

Dave
