Good morning folks, we got up a little bit early today, we were keen on having a bit of breakfast. I had set my heart on some scrambled eggs on toast, with pepper. So we drove half way there, coz we had some things to drop off at Tom and Leanne’s room which is half way to the food court. The scrambled egg was very nice, they do a creamy scrambled egg, do the chefs at the All Star Movies. I have always thought that the food was of a good quality here. It may be the place where the poor people have to have there holiday’s but there is absolutely no reason to go hungry.

The food court was quite full even though it was just after eight. There was this guy sat at the end of a table for 8, I went to the other end and started to sit down. The guy says, hey, “I need all this table”, so I said, “I can see you are big, but I didn’t think you were that big” So I trots off to find another table. Then when getting a drink of the old hot chocolate variety, I noticed that he had disappeared, with no one else there, but he had left his big bag in the middle of the table. I wanted to tell the cast members that there was an unattended bag and for them to get security to blow it up. But spoilsport Jill wouldn’t let me!! (Shoot him Captain Mainwaring. Shoot him!)

We decided to take the omnibus to Magic Kingdom with our chums Tom and Leanne. The bus was quite busy but we got into some interesting conversations about the Universal Front of the Line Pass for Universal “On Universe??” Guests. (We are spending 2 days at the Hard Rock Café at the end of the trip.) with some guys from some American State in the South, and one on Heat Stroke with a young gal from America who rather tastefully has an English Boyfriend.

We sailed into the Magic Kingdom, with just one little problemo. None of our Annual Passes worked between the six of us. We managed to get in without photo id. This is a problem for us Brits coz we are not that big on photo id. It is becoming a bit of a pain in the botty though over here, so I had better get something. Do you think a Roy of the Rovers Fan Club Card will do?

First item on the agenda is Splash Mountain this is a ride that the Burroughs and the Wilmotz both like. We of course couldn’t get fastpasses as we were not actually in the park, so a cast member helped us sort the problem out. So we did the walk on and used the fastpasses later on for a second go. We got wet, we got very wet. But we had a good time and at the end of the day that’s why we came.

The Wilmotz also had a wee shottie at the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was fun, but it is soooooo much poorer in quality than it’s brother in Paris that it spoilt it for me. I spend all the time on it feeling grumpy…….. this is not as good as Paris, oh this bit is much worse than Paris, oh where is the tunnel that they have in Paris. Oh belt up you miserable moron and chill out and have a good time……….

Jill was today’s foster parent for Pal Mickey and they were chatting away to each other. Occasionally Jill would pass on one of his excellent quality jokes, they are so funny, I can see him doing a 6 month sell out show in Vegas.

We walked over in the direction of Fantasyland and I suggested we go for a nap at the Hall of Presidents but no one would take me up on the offer so we did the Haunted Mansion. Very Spooooky, but not as good as in Paris. (Sorry!)

There was quite a line at It’s a Small World, 25 minutes, even Leanne who is the President of the Florida “It’s a Small World” Exchange Club, which organises trips for small people throughout the world, where they indulge in colourful dances with catchy tunes, thought that was too much, so we rather sensibly gave it a wide berth.

We did do the other catchy little number, The Carousel of Progress. I always enjoy this and I made a point to notice something I haven’t noticed before in each scene. Being a bit of an old traditionalist we did the Tommorrowland Transit Authority too. And wait for it, wait for it, it had a little queue, you know it is busy when it and CoP have a line.

After a couple of trips on Buzz and Space Mountain, we decided to split up the boys going to go to Disney Quest, Tom Leanne and Kim to Peter Pan, and Jill and myself to the hotel to do jobs.

On the way out Pal Mickey told us that it was time for the 3 o’clock parade. We noticed that there were gaps on Main Street, which surprised me because it was busy in Tommorrowland and Fantasyland, so I thought that the park must be bursting at the seams, apparently not. Anyway we decided to stay to see the parade. It was coming from Fronteerland and so it wasn’t due until 3-20pm. (“Hey Mister what time is the three o’clock parade.” “Twenty past three.” “Thanks”. )

Anyway at exactly twenty past three it starts pouring down, they would have normally cancelled the parade, as it was bouncing off the pavement. However, it had started 20 minutes before in sunshine. The first few dancers come by with some characters and they make little jokes about the puddles, then nothing comes up the street for a while. But then, from the other direction, a tractor steams up Main Street, the Mickey Mouse float, is stuck in a puddle and has to be rescued by the tractor……. Then all the dancers between the floats disappear, I dunno where, down the drains to the Utilidoors I think. Then the four or so remaining floats whiz down Main Street as fast as they can with Minney Mouse hanging on for grim death. It was the best parade I have ever seen. I must see it on a sunny afternoon to see what it is supposed to be like.

Jill and I dodge some raindrops and make it back to the Hotel. I spend some time writing bits of this epic report for the betterment of my readers. Then we go to Disney Quest to pick up the boys and meet up with Kim and later Sue. Unfortunately I realise that I have forgotten my pass. So I send Jill on ahead and drive back for the pass, I get to the hotel room, knowing that my pass is probably on the TV only to realise that I have no door key with me, it is on the TV with the passes, so I drive to Disney Quest for the second time to pick up a room key from Jill, drive back to the Hotel and get the passes and drive to Downtown Disney for the third time. I had missed the Sue Meet for the first CW show, so I decided to comfort eat, and I have a Steak Cheese Sub with Pepper and Onion………YUMMMMMMMY.

Meeting up with Sue, Kim and Jill and the boyz, I watch the second CW show, See WDW1972 for details, but it wasn’t a classic. A trend is developing at CW I think I have seen about seven shows now this week and only 2 were good. I think the CW needs a bit of a re-formatting it is not firing on all cylinders at the moment. I think it has suffered from a lot of cast changes in the past 12 months and it needs a few fresh ideas to perk it up a bit. (Controversial, but as you know. Larry likes to say it as it is. – Well apart from the 70% I make up as I go along, but you get the drift.)

We pop in for a show at the Adventurers Club, after my sound man appearance a couple of days ago, and being awarded a Member’s Badge, I regard myself as a fully paid up member of the club. We saw the Balderdash Cup and I refuse to vote for Emil, he can keep his pigeons.

Well that’s all for tonight folks.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers Larry from Scotland.

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful report!!!!!

Larry,

I've been an avid reader of your reports on RADP for ages! I'm so glad to see you here on the DIS too!! I've gotta tell you that my husband (who had a really bad experience with pushy parade watchers and now refuses to go anywhere near a parade) told me that he would gladly wait in line again to see the same version of the afternoon parade that you saw!

Thanks for the wonderful reports!

Kelly

"Then the four or so remaining floats whiz down Main Street as fast as they can with Minney Mouse hanging on for grim death."...for some reason that really cracked me up. Its a good thing I wasn't there, or I would have laughed at poor Minney.

Thanks for the reports - I've wasted a lot of time at work reading them!

Linda
