Largest occupancy onsite hotel rooms?

We'll be 6 adults, 10 children when we travel and I'm searching and searching the DLP onsite hotels and I can't find anything that accomodates more than 4 people (+infant) to a room.

Does DLP not have any accomodations with larger rooms/cabins etc like at wdw, as our break down is...

family 1- 2 adults, 2 kids,
family 2- 2 adults, 4 kids aged 12-2,
family 3- 2 adults 3 kids age 8 to 4 with an infant.

Any idea where to stay? If they are all 4 person rooms do they offer conjoining rooms with the connecting door like at WDW ASmo?

They're certainly available...

The disneyland hotel and also (I think) the Newport bay offer family rooms which sleep 5.

Quite a few (if not all) of the hotels can also offer joining rooms which could therefore sleep 8 in total, although you will of course have to pay double for these because it's still classed as 2 separate rooms.

The Davy Crockett Ranch sleeps up to 6, but that's not truly on site and requires a car (although it does give the same perks as a true on site Disney hotel).

We're the ones with six and DH had already resigned himself to our needing two rooms but without the middle door it would have meant him in one room, me in the other with 2 kids each

Sounds like it might be worth looking at Davey Crockett ranch and hiring a minibus though

If you go that route, then the davy crockett ranch has a double bed, a double sofa-bed and a set of bunk beds.

Both types of cabin have this, although the single bedroom cabins have the bunk beds in with the double bed, where as they're in their own room in the 2 bedroom cabins.

There are rooms with adjoining doors in every onsite Disney hotel.

Or, what about the Explorers hotel? Its a Disney associated hotel, is served by a free shuttle to and from the parks, and you can have rooms for up to 10 in that hotel (normal rooms take 4, you can add bunk rooms which sleep 2, or even another normal room to sleep 10)

That sounds worth looking at- does anyone know if the shuttle is reliable?

Its very reliable - we stayed at the Explorers in June. Explorers is the first pick up on the shuttle and first drop-off.

The shuttles run every 20 minutes, from around 6am until around midnight, every day.

Have a look at the hotel sticky and you'll find a link for the Explorer Hotel.
You can often get good deals if booking directly with the hotel's website

Hope you get sorted. If you do go for a Disney hotel, I'm unsure if they can guarantee you connecting rooms. We just stayed a few weeks ago at the Disneyland Hotel and asked for connecting rooms for Mum & Stepdad (as we had the 2 kids with us and thought it would be easier if we were connecting as a result).

I asked when I got a quote on the telephone and also emailed them to follow up and was told it wasn't guaranteed but they would try. We did get the connecting rooms but if it were absolutely essential it might be better to just check before booking online (if you were to go that route) just in case.
