Hi all!

My mom is plus-sized, and we're wondering if she'll be able to ride on the rides in IOA. She's a size 44 chest, 26/28. She fits snugly into airline seats, if that helps! She's a bit conscious about her weight (the result of my father's illness, and his passing away), so I would really not want to put her through it if it'll be embarassing for her, but she also really wants to go. Any personal experiences would certainly help us make our decision!

Thanks a bunch!

She will be just fine. The good thing is that some rides like the Hulk have certain rows with seats for us larger folks...;)

Also, there are seats outside of each attraction so she can try them before she enters. Not embarassing at all. believe me!

Oh boy! I love these boards...People always get back to you so quickly. Thanks Spidey.

Quick question, though. Will she just not fit in the regular seats, do you know? Also, for the larger sized rows, will she be able to ride next to my sister (5' 9" size 4...)... Neither one of 'em will go on without the other.

Now that I think about it, I'll be left flapping in the wind if it's a two seater situation...If any of y'all will be at IOA during those dates and you're assaulted by a fellow passenger scared out of her wits, curly hair standing up on end, babbling some weird spanish-english words, that's probably me. I apologize ahead of time..

:sunny:

She probably will fit, but you'll now for sure once you are there. It's just a bit snug, but I like that on roller coasters that make me go upside down.:p

Your mom should be fine.

Your sister won't be left flapping in the wind.

On the coasters the seat restraints are all individual ones. They are over the shoulder restraints so her being top-heavy may have more of an impact than her actual girth -- and each coaster has two seats (one of the middle seats -- I think in Rows 3 and 6 -- not sure) that have extended seat-belts to fit larger passengers.

Other rides like Jurassic Park have a lapbar that comes down on all of the passengers in the row evently so a larger passenger may have the rest in the row a bit loose but no one has ever fallen out! Don't sweat it. And those are bench seats so you don't have to worry about her feeling cramped widthwise.

Dr. Doom? Same deal with the over-the-shoulder restraints as the coasters -- but I have no idea if they also have the larger restraints on certain seats there. Dudley and Spider-Man have no seatbelts at all (and Dudley may be a tight fit getting into the log and out -- but it should definitely be possible). Popeye uses standard seat-belts as most rapid rides -- though I'm guessing a larger passenger should be fine.

Come on! With the great restaurants at IOA do you really think the park would discriminate against its larger passengers? No way! She'll have a great time. Your mom will not feel out of place as Orlando welcomes tourists in all shapes and sizes.

Test seats are available at MIB, Dragons, Hulk, and Doctor Doom. She should try those. All others use lapbars or other methods that are very accomodating.

Just ask for the modified seats. My husband is a big guy (wide) like a football player and was able to fit on all rides but Dueling Dragons where he needed a "modified" seat and I sat next to him in a regular seat. You all get an individual seat/individual harness/belt. She doesn't have to be embarrassed just tell the ride operators when they ask how many there are in your party. That way you don't have to waste time waiting for another car/dragon. Great idea to try out the tester seats out front.

Have a great time.

That is a GREAT picture above (MandaMom)..............not on topic but I just had to comment.

Your mom and I are the same size (well that I was when I had IOA/Universal passes)... I needed the other seat on both roller coasters so be sure to ask, it also keeps for the embaresment of trying to fit in a "normal" one and then having to be moved. All the other rides I fit fine in and had no problems.... =o) I also fit into Dr. Dooms easily.
