Larger portioned kids meals?

At WDW, we have found several options of kids meals that have larger portions, enough for an adult lunch. Toy Story Pizza Planet is an example, individual pizza, cookie and a drink, much cheaper than an adult pizza. Are there similar options at DLR? We love to try different snacks, so we are looking for smaller lunches.

I'm not sure if they still have it, but a couple years ago I got the kids waffle breakfast from Flo's in Carsland. It came with two tire shaped waffles, a couple pieces of turkey bacon and some fruit (and a juice box!)

This doesn't answer your question (about larger kid meals), but my husband and I prefer small meals and most meal combo options are more than enough to feed us. Like getting a chicken sandwich/fries/drink combo and asking for an extra dish/plate. Take a knife, cut the sandwich in two, there you go honey. lol

BBQ skewers are always easy on portion size.

The kids bean and cheese burrito meal at Rancho Del Zocalo is a decent size for $6.99

Why not just split an adult sized portion? We get the pastas from Pizza Port and split one between 2 of us.

The kid's breakfasts are a pretty decent size usually. I think the kid's portions at French Market are also fairly large. I know my son got spaghetti a few years ago and it was way too much for him, but I don't remember what the portion size was.

My husband and I will split but my DS14 will not so I am better buying him a kids meal.

The 14 year can deal with that? If I tried to buy my 12 year old boy a kid's meal he would revolt. The kid is hungry!

At Pizza Port an adult slice of pizza is 50 cents more than the kids meal. It's bigger, too. If the adults split, you could add a side to share 3 ways. It might cost a little bit more, but why force a teen to eat a kids meal? You asked for kids meals that are an adult portion, then smaller portions. I'd just pay for adult food at a theme park reasonable price.

Yes, at that age mine would have required two kids meals and been looking for a snack!
Ages 12-16, we actually felt Disney was losing money on our boys at the buffets and all-you-can-eats!

LOL! Yeah, a couple people on the WDW board were all, "you can't make the dining plan pay for itself, that's too much food..." I'm like... y'all have never seen my guys eat. Entree, app and dessert three times a day? Yep. And snacks in between.

You cannot order a kids meal at a table service restaurant for an adult (anyone over 9). The counter service restaurants do not care. Some of the table restaurants will let you order the kids' food at an adult portion, but that doesn't help with what you're looking for since it's the smaller portions you want.

I'm starting to think my six-year old is too old for kids' meals. When we go to Denny's after our Discovery Kingdom trips she eats her free kids' meal and then begins begging for food off our plates because she's still hungry.

We are planning to eat smaller lunches and get snacks because we like to try snacks, so my 14 y.o. will be fine. We do this at WDW every trip. We have a big hot breakfast free at our hotel and a full kitchen to cook a supper, so he will not go hungry. Thanks for the pizza suggestion. I would pay the extra 50 cents for that.

At DLR kids meals also don't come with cookie. You get a choice of apple slices (4-5) or carrot sticks (7-8). Bringing some chips, like a lunch size Pringle containers or cookies to supplement will help stretch your food budget. Are you looking for unique snacks? Especially in DL there's basically pretzels, churros, popcorn, candy and ice cream. Most of the small snack size items are candy and ice cream. There are also some fruit stands, but fruit and veggies are probably the single biggest ripoff for what DLR charges. DLR is not WDW and people who try to reporduce WDW often come back and post their disappointment. Dining is one of the major ways they are very different. In DCA there are some bar snack type items at Carthay Lounge, Alfresco and The Cove Bar. For the most part you're looking are looking at items that are close to the price and size of a TS entree. And they're TS, not to go type snacks. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to take the time to eat a CS kids meal, to then supplement with something like lobster nachos when you could just as easily order 2-3 items, including the nachos, at that same bar.

We like to snack our way through the parks too. We love corn dogs for a smaller meal and have also had good luck at Stage Door Cafe. It's a very limited menu and nothing special but decent sized meals for a decent price. We also ate at Tommorowland Terracce, now Galactic Grill, and it was basic food but filled is up
