Hi Guys

I was hoping to get some advice from my wise Dis Friends. Every trip I have been on I always take a photo with the giant Stitch and sadly always put him back. This year however as we are on honeymoon my DF has said that he will buy me one as a honeymoon gift :yay:

So my dillema is, how do I get him home? Can you take a giant plush on the plane with you (VA) or would it be better to have him shipped and if we do ship him what are the likely costs to do so?

TIA
Stefy :stitch:

Providing you count him as your 1 piece of carry on I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to bring him onto the plane, he isn't any bigger than some of the bags I have seen people try to get on as carry on.

Otherwise I would squish him up and pack him in my bags for the hold.

Good luck.

Kirsten

If you really love him then I'd say get a case for him and pay the excess baggage (£35ish) on the way home. :)

For a few years every time I went I use to bring the large minnie or mickey mouse home for family members never been a problem to bring them on the plane one time the cabin crew gave minnie her own seat near them  I have done this on a virgin flight twice :)

You should have no problem either taking him on as hand luggage or getting him in your case. I am pretty sure he wouldn't add much weight wise and will squish up nicley - and I am pretty sure he won't hold it against you once you finally get him home :goodvibes

I have bought 3 home-stitch minnie and scooby and never got asked to pay any extra. We have flown with virgin on all these occasions.Buy him and dont worry about it.;)

I bought a hippo at AK last year not huge but it fitted into a vacum bag in my case.

Maybe if you can get one large enough then he can go in one of those in your case. They don't weigh much so it should not affect your luggage allowance. you can get the ones you roll to get the air out so you don't need the vacum.

I have also had them bag up large plushies and put them in the hold at no extra cost. But that was years ago so not sure now.

Thanks for the advice guys :goodvibes It would be nice to take him on as carry on so I can use him as a pillow as such (hate flying), if I do take him as carry on would I still be able to get away with a bag as well (medium to large LV tote)?

Haha - my earlier reply was on my iphone so didn't see your picture!

If that's the stitck then yeah, I'm sure he'd be fine!!

Yep that's the one. On the past two trips I have that exact same pose and this year I am determined to bring him home :teeth:

I had a big cuddle with him in January but as I already had 4 overweight cases & 4 full to the brim oversized hand luggage bags (between 2 of us) I had to leave him there.....I hope to bring him home in September. I plan on packing him in one of my cases if I have the room, if not he will be on the plane with me. ;)

Ooh when in September are you going and it looks like you are cruising too. We have three nights on the Dream and then 10 nights on land.

I hope you get to take him home too, he's just too cute not too :teeth:

You will love the Dream - it's amazing!!! ::yes::

We are doing the 14 night Transatlantic from Barcelona to Port Canaveral. :cool1: Then we have 3 nights at Bay Lake Tower before returning home from Miami - our dates in Orlando are 24th-27th Sept.

I love :stitch: and have lots of small Stitch plushes but have always wanted a huge one! :teeth:

I am sure that the stewardesses are used to people bringing large plushes on to planes on flights back from Florida, so I’m sure it won’t be a problem at all :)

Wow that is some cruise, sounds wonderful. We are doing our very from Cruise on 15th til 18th and then 10 nights at the Poly after that.

I have two of the medium Stitches and some other smaller ones. He is mine and my DF's fav character.

True, well it looks like Giant Stitch will be coming home with us this year :teeth:

Hi - my dd bought a giant pooh bear in august - we took him on our VA home flight as carry on with no probs - but the cabin crew wouldn't let dd cuddle him or use him as a pillow as they said it was for safety reasons and would be in the way in teh case of an emergency - so they took him away and put him safely in a cupboard and brought him back at the end of the flight. and that was on a packed august flight so you shouls have no probs. HTH xxx

Does he have to come from there? I COMPLETELY understand if you want him from WDW because of the memories but we've had a giant stitch (looks the same from the small pic) on offer in the UK stores for £20. He was still on offer on my last shift (Sunday) so I assume he still is but I'm not in til tomorrow. As I say, if it's that you want a WDW one I get it...just wondered if it'd solve the issue. You may have to be quick though cause I think he's selling out.

Thanks for that, I guess I don't mind if they take him away at least he'll be safe. Just have to remember to take him back :teeth:

For some reason I don't like the Stitch plushes over here, they are kinda weird looking compared to the WDW ones. I have two medium ones and every time we pop into the UK store I always look at Stitch and think "I like my WDW ones better" But thank you for the suggestion though :goodvibes
