My family of 4 will be traveling to the world with my husband's brother and his family of 4 this summer. Our 90 day ADR window opens on Monday :yay: and I will be making my family's reservations. My BIL and his family don't really want to talk about our vacation and I feel like I annoy them with my planning. So, I am backing off and focusing on my family. I am worried though that we will get there and they will want to join us for dinner (my niece and daughter are the same age). I thought that I would include them in our reservation just in case. My question comes because I have heard that some restaurants require large parties to have their reservations be held with a cc and the number that makes you a large party differs from restaurant to restaurant. Does anyone know which restaurants consider 8 to be a large party and therefore have a cc to reserve?

We are planning to dine at:
Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace
Whispering Canyon
O'hana
Boma

TIA for your help!

My first thought is: Why are you even going with them anyway? :confused3If none of your BIL's family wants to talk about the vacation, so be it, don't talk about it with them. Just don't feel bad for others' wrong doing. If you felt that you have done your part already, don't go above and beyond for them. It is just not worthy.:rolleyes1

Hello Hayley,
We went to the wold in March with my parents, sister and her family. None of them wanted to discuss the holiday either.

Thanks to these boards I knew we had to make ADR's, so I gave them a list of what I was booking and asked them to let me know (giving a time!!) if they wanted to do any too.

They signed up to a couple which was nice but at other times we just went off on our own. When they got there they complained all the time that they couldn't find anywhere to eat :confused3:lmao::confused3

BTW 9 of us and only character meals needed CC to reserve, and of course CRT was prepaid.

Give them all the info you can and have the best time ever.:thumbsup2

8 is not considered a large party. Grand Gathering or group dinning starts at 10 people. I would make adr's for 8 at all places. It is easier to go from 8 to 4, than 4 to 8. Just switch when you BIL decides it's time to plan, or even the day of. If any restuarant can't accomadate a party of 8, I would make 2 adr's as close together for 4 each. Then you can eat where/when you want and maybe they can join you.

Wanted to point out that you may be too late for Chef Mickey, you can make ADR's there at 180 days. So call there today!

Good Luck with your ADR's.

I agree and wouldn't if it wasn't for my niece and daughter being the same age and good friends. The trip for me is about the kids and making it magical for them.

I will try that. Thanks!

Thanks! That is the reason I thought about just making it for 8 and not nagging at my fam to make a decision. But I do not want my cc tied to their up in the air decisions!

Re: Chef Mickey's - you scared me! :scared1: I called WDW-Dine to check on Chef Mickey's and it is 90 days not 180. Actually, the reservation agent told me that now everything is part of the 90 day reservation system except for Cirque de Soleil which is still 180 days.

If your group has 8 or more people, you can do the grand gathering experience. There's a couple of dining experiences you can choose from. Most require 2 TS credit for each person of the group. The only 1 TS GGE is a breakfast. http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/me...2009Dining.pdf

I really think you should have a group meeting before you make any of your ADR's. BTW, Chef Mickey is a 90 days ADR restaurant unless you have already made the reservation before this past December. The only dining ADR which can still be made 180 days out is the Grand Gathering Experience. Oh, and La Nouba too.
See for yourself.

I made an ADR for 14 at Cape May Cafe yesterday and did not have to give a cc number to secure it.

I just wanted to post and let you know the outcome. I made my ADRs yesterday - for 8. My SIL told me to go ahead and just include them in our ADRs. It did not impact me getting the times or restaurants I wanted and I did not need a credit card to hold any of the reservations - On a side note - my DH spoke with his brother yesterday to make sure that their daughter did not want a princess dinner (believe it or not my daughter does not like the princesses!) or another character meal that I did not book. They said if they did then they would book it themselves later. I just shook my head and let it go. I have the ressies I want for my fam! :cool1:

I for one am very proud that you and your DH took control of YOUR vacation. Have a magical vacation, OK?!!:cheer2:
