:confused3 How bad is it for a larger woman to fit into the rollercoaster rides at universal? I am 5' 4" and a size 22. I was at disney in 2006 and didn't have a problem but I'm not sure about this park. I know there is a test seat for some rides but I would like to hear from some people who have done this. My daughter wants to ride everything and she wont get on without me so I do not want to disappoint.

As you stated, the coasters have test seats at ROTM, Hulk and Dueling Dragons. On ROTM, they will probably put you in the last row since it has more leg room. On Hulk and DD, try out the test seats in front. The larger seats are located in rows 3 and 6 on each train and have two seat buckles instead of one. They are fairly spacious so you shouldn't have any problem. I don't think the Flying Unicorn has any test seats and that may be too tight a squeeze for you.

I'm the same height and close to the same size, so maybe my experience will help. The good part - I've always been able to get in the seat and have the restraint fasten just fine, regular seats or special seats, so there probably are no worries there. However, if you, erm, carry a decent amount of weight/size in the chest area, there are times when the overhead restraint, while fastened very safely, nonetheless made it difficult to breathe deeply, which I have a tendency to do since I screeeeeeeam on the coasters. It's mostly dicey for me at the end, while I'm coasting and waiting on the track to pull in to unload.

As has been suggested, you can check out the sample seats outside the rides. When you do, try to pull it down as far as it will go. When I ride, I try to let the restraint "catch" at the outermost area, in order to give enough breathing room; however, with the inversions and g's involved, it nearly always pops down at least one notch, if not two.

Best wishes, I hope you and your daughter have an awesome visit and experience!! :goodvibes

Bless you for answering this...I was too embarrassed to ask myself! Woohoo! Now I know I'll have a great trip!:cool1:

I am worried about the same thing. I am a few inches taller and a size 24. I am worried about the rides, and would be completely embarrassed to sit on the test seat or to be told I was too big to ride any of the rides.

Are there any other larger people who did or did not have problems???

:cool1:

thanks in advance!

Don't be embarrassed to try the test seat...that's what they're there for. :thumbsup2

Yea what Metro said.... Try the seat out. Its not embarassing imo. I have noticed most ppl dont even pay attention to what others do during vacation they have their own stuff going on. I asked basically same question not because I was embarassed to try the seat but because I dont like the fear of waiting to find out. I am a guy so my measurements probably wont help you much but I had roughly 54" stomach sitting and I made it. In the test seat you have to be able to buckle the buckle also I was curious before I went how I would know. It would be much worse to get on the ride after waiting 30 mins and to get turned away so please dont be embarassed to try the seat and enjoy your vacation!

Thanks-I was wondering the same thing.

Well I am "Pooh" size and the only ride I had a little problem on this past November was the "Hulk" because the overhead restraint was tight for me and my DH. It buckled but I could barely breath. But that won't stop me. I am doing it again in 10 days!!

like metro stated, there are seats for those that need more room.

last year i was on the hulk and am a regular sized person.

the TM asked me to move rows as they needed my seat for a person larger than me.

i did.

i noticed that the seat belts in some of the rows have extenders so a larger person can ride with ease and comfort.

you can check with guest services on which rides you are questioning about the fit.

there are many people of all sizes that are able to do the rides at universal.

the test seat in front of the attractions do help a person decide if it will be comfortable for them.
also, like stated before, some rows have seat belt extenders

I'm about your height and size. To be honest I didn't even try the big coasters. They do have the seats out front for you to try but every time I would try to check it out, it would be full of people getting their picture took in them.

To the OP, theres your answer, sit in it and pose for a picture and you can check out the seat at the same time and no one will be the wiser. I'm exactly the same measurements as you except my weight is in my hips and I fit on the Hulk and Dueling Dragons which are the two most people have difficulty with. Its true that no one is really watching what other people are doing, don't be embarrased, have fun! HTH :thumbsup2
