Large group at Ohana w/o ADR

Is this a possible task? We got a group of 10 and want to go to Ohana but waited too long to make a reservation. Is it possible to walk up and get a table without a 60+ minute wait? Obviously we'd have to arrive either really early or really late to even have a shot. Has anyone else had success in the past? Any tips or advice is appreciated.

It is probably going to be impossible. For that to happen, you would need another party of 10 to do a no show. Keep checking. I have found Ohana reservations the day before and day of, so hope isn't lost!

Anything is possible.

That being said, no - there is no way this will happen. Sorry.

Best possible advice is to continue to check ADR availability right up until you are ready to eat.

And be prepared with a backup selection.

There are plenty of fine restaurants that can most likely take your group without an ADR - Boma, Biergarten, maybe Cape May (as far as AYCTE restaurants) and then many other table-servic restaurants as well.

Good luck!

There's always someone who said they were able to walk up and be seated without a reservation, but I wouldn't count on it, especially with a group of 10. 'Ohana is one of the most popular restaurants in DW, fully booked most of the time and even those with reservations have had to wait 30 - 45 minutes to be seated because it frequently runs behind schedule. Under these circumstances there's virtually no likelihood you'll be seated.

Keep checking online frequently to see if an 'Ohana cancellation comes up. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for your month at the top of the Dining Reservation board. Also, many recommend the touring plans reservation finder. In the meantime I would also make a back up reservation because not many table service restaurants would be able to accommodate a walk up group of 10.

I agree that even though you may hear of an isolated case of walkup to 'Ohana I would not chance it.

I've been able to land a table as a walk-up, but never with more than a party of two. With a large group, even I have to admit you have almost no chance of success. Your best bet would be to use the Touring Plans reservation finder tool and hope a table opens up. You'd be surprised how often people cancel -- it's just a matter of jumping in quickly to snatch it up! Good luck!

yea, I'm checking multiple times a day to see if it comes available. got whispering canyon already booked as a backup. I asked because while I have been to Disney 70+ times over my lifetime, I never really went to Ohana until recently so I am still learning the tricks and tips involved with that restaurant.

Do realize, the reason you can't make an ADR is because they are fully booked
If they are full, what makes you think they can take a walk up?

Because just because a restaurant is not taking reservations, doesn't mean they don't take walkups. I have eaten at fully booked restaurants such as Be Our Guest and Le Cellier (before the quality fell off a cliff) numerous times when ADR's weren't available numerous times.. It's all about knowing the down times for the particular restaurant. Ohana is not one of the restaurants I have that knowledge for so I asked here.

With a group of 10, I would say the chance of getting seated at Ohana as a walkup is practically zero. Your experience getting seated at BOG and LeCellier as a walk-up is an exception rather than a rule. Most people get turned away when trying any of those restaurants as walk ups.

At Disney, it's extremely rare. Sorry. There are a handful of eateries that hold any capacity for walk-ups. Le Cellier and BOG aren't among them, but may have had no shows.

Expecting a No Show for 10 at the proper time at one of the hardest to book resort restaurants at WDW is quite a lot like expecting to win the lottery.

Just because it isn't a common thing, doesn't mean it isn't doable. Like I said, I have had plenty of success doing it at some of the toughest restaurants in the resort. You just have to know when/what to do. I knew Ohana was a long shot, but I figured I'd ask. Just because I am new to this website doesn't mean I am new to Disney. Pretty surprised at how offended some people are over a simple question. I didn't want to risk a walkup with such a large group, so I asked. Clearly people haven't had much or any luck so I won't bother.

I know it's more expensive (and the first act is hokey!), but, if you want a "Polynesian experience", would you consider doing Spirit of Aloha instead? I think WCC is a good back-up. Certainly not the same kind of food, but still a festive atmosphere in a beautiful resort. I, too, don't think you will have any chance of walking up to O'hana with a party of 10 and this is coming from someone who has scored some pretty good walk-ups - with a party of 2.

Good luck. Try Kona Cafe instead and see if they'll bring you Bread Pudding.

With a group of 10?

Just curious (not offended), because a successful walk up with a large party is quite rare in my own extensive experience.
I have gotten lunch at some places with large groups but never tried dinner. That's why I asked. Like I said, I don't know much about Ohana so I asked if there was a down time. It seems that it is always packed from open to close, so we won't even try.

even with a ressie and a group of 14 we had a 30 minute wait at Ohana. and from what I know that is a pretty standard wait

The chances of being seated WITH a reservation in less than 60 minutes are slim. So without one...go to Kona Cafe. Better food, more choices, less noise, not as overpriced. We love the Poly and Kona Cafe.
That's stretching it a bit. Many people report a wait to be seated at 'Ohana -but a wait of over an hour? There are also many posters like me who have never waited longer than 10 minutes except for once, and that wait was 30 minutes.
I do agree that a walk up at 'Ohana with that large a party - or even with any size party is highly unlikely.
