What is your experience making ARds for a large group.

I am heading down w/ 13 people in August. I know I have to call a special number, which I need to find out what it is!

But is it impossible to get ADRs at the good resteraunts?:confused3

I have to make reservations for 11 for June 1. I didn't know about a different number. I would hate to wait on hold for a long time to find out I had the wrong number.

Thanks for asking this question...

I called the normal dining number and they transferred me to group dining.

I made reservations for Ohana 6 months ago for 26 people at 5:15 on Monday, March 14.

Then last week, I called and made last minute reservations for 13 people for Spoodles at 6:50 p.m. on Friday, March 20. I was surprised they were able to accommodate us--no problem. They did ask ahead of time if we were on the dining plan (we aren't), and I wondered if they would have been able to seat us if we were.

I believe if you have 14+ you need to talk to group dining reservations. Grand gathering reservations are a separate department too.

We just returned a few weeks ago with 11 people and I made all of the reservations for that trip on the regular dining number. I did not do any of the Grand Gathering events and I had no problems booking every restaurant we wanted. The only places we were not all seated together was at Sci Fi (we had cars side by side) and Coral Reef where we had adjoining tables, 6 at one and 5 at the other.

We have a party of 8, barely a grand gathering. I was told to use the regular dining reservation number. So far I have only reserved CRT. They could not seat us together and although I re-booked to another day I still have a crappy time (4:00 for dinner) and still we are seated apart.
I hope this is not the trend for larger groups.

We had 13 in our group once. They normally didn't have tables large enough for 13 so they split us into 2 tables beside each other. It worked out fine for us. No problems!:thumbsup2

We'll see what happens with our two ressies in two weeks...but the CM said we will be seated together at a big table in the middle of the room at Spoodles. I have no idea what to expect with Ohana.

Thanks for the info. We will have two sets of parents and the rest are kids. So I hope we will be able to sit togther.
