We have a group of 10 going to wdw in May. I have received some assistance here with ideas of how to best book large group dining. I wonder if someone could clarify something for me. Suggestion is to login under myself and then my daughter and attempt to book for say 6 under one name and then 4 under my daughter. The question is this. If I see availability under my name for 6 and I can see availability for 4 under my daughters account at the same time then how do I know there is actually availability for 10? I’m worried if I snag the 6 then that might remove the availability for 4 from my daughters account. Is that clear? Clear as mud maybe….

My guess would be that grabbing the 4 would not remove the 6 (and vice versa) but you could do a couple of practice runs ahead of time to get a feel for it, making test reservations for a restaurant 60 days out to check how this works (and remembering to cancel them when you are done, of course).

Il Mulino at the Swan is on Open Table. They take reservations for ten.

Thanks for the info. Yes maybe I will try ahead of time and see what happens. I thought maybe someone had done this before and would have an idea of how that worked. Also because we are in Canada I don’t think Open Table works for us here.

I regularly make reservations for 7 but I suspect 10 is a whole different story. I don't have much trouble with 7 (may not get perfect times, but get almost all of what I want even at desirable restaurants). I just did a search for reservations for 10 for dinner when we'll be there in March and I came up with some options considering it's about 30 days out (the usual later times, etc.). I wonder whether if you're online right when your window opens, you would be able to get reservations for 10 people rather than having to book 6 and 4. But I'm sure others here have better insight on booking for 10. Good luck!

I’m in Montreal and I was able to book some restaurants in Orlando in the Open Table app without any issue.

Oh really? I will definitely give it another go!

And my account was created in Canada to book a restaurant in Vancouver a few years ago. Right now, some restaurants at Disney Springs are available to book for up to 3 months from now and some offsite are up to 6 months. Never had any issue with Open Table. Hopefully it will work for you!

Seconding Open Table if it works for you -- I made some reservations for 7 (at Morimoto and Raglan Road) before the Disney 60 day window opened for us. It was nice to have those options already in place!

I had my best experience when I went in June with a large group just calling and going through it the 60th morning they would give us reservations sometimes 10-15 minutes apart and the restaurants combined the tables and time no problem when we showed.

i would at least call and get on hold in case you are having trouble.

Thanks, this is great advice.

I would like to call for sure but as I am in Canada the long distance charges can be astronomical if on hold for a while. I can’t seem to see a toll free number for dining. Is there one somewhere I have missed?

Our window opened for late April today and I was able to get reservations for 9 people at Storybook Dining at Artist's Point, Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Boma, Cape May, Mama Melrose and Prime Time Cafe. We will drop some of those later today after talking about preferences. We had to do split reservations at San Angel and Hollywood & Vine (same times and we will ask about being seated together).

One note, though. When we talked to the CM who updated our tickets a few weeks ago, she cautioned that many restaurants are operating at limited capacity and that it might to more difficult to seat larger parties together. I don't know how accurate this information is, but when we went in October we saw many empty tables in restaurants despite the fact that no reservations were showing up that day. This was particularly noticeable at Space 220.

Sorry, are you saying that Artist's Point, Biergarten, Teppan, Boma, Cape May, Mama Melrose and Prime Time were all taking parties of 9? I'm just trying to figure out, with 15 people, if I can do 2 reservations for the group or if I'll have to split to 3. Thanks!!

Yes, they all took parties of 9; we had 4 people online 15 minutes before the window opened - for the two in California that was 2:45 am. But I just checked now and there are still good times available for those same restaurants for 9 people (except for Storybook).

I was really surprised by this because I’ve been checking every day at the 60 day mark and very few restaurants had reservations for 9 - and the ones I found were either very early or very late. What I’m seeing is those same restaurants. I think many of the others just don’t accept 9. Tusker House has several reservations for 8 but none for 9. Same with Chef Mickeys and Hollywood and Vine. We seem to be just over the limit.

I bet you’ll have a lot of choices as long as each reservation is under 9 and you don’t mind possibly being split up.
