Hi, we're leaving in 2 days, going with DH, DD6 and DD2. Our 2 year old will turn 3 in a few weeks and she is very large for her age. Obviously I am not planning to buy her a ticket, will they just take my word that she is 2 or do I need a copy of her birth certificate? Thanks in advance for your opinions on this.

My DD is also large for her age. She is now 2 1/2 and weighs 39 lbs. She is not fat, just big and tall for her age. No one at the park asked for proof or questioned my when I gave her age.

Good Luck.

I have a six year old who barely hits 40 lbs - but she's so obviously not two. At Christmas time when we bought our season passes, the lady said, "Just two adults? Your children are under three, right?" I thought she was teasing my daughter, but she was serious. So, no, I'm quite certain you're not going to need to prove she's two.

A girl I work with went last year when her son was 2 1/2 and he is also tall for his age. They were questioned more than once about his age, and she said the CM acted like he didn't believe her. She said she meant to bring his birth certificate but forgot it. However, they didn't stop her from entering the parks without a pass for him.

Oh no! I'm worried about this too! DS is 2 1/2 right now and weighs 40 lbs. He has always been 100 percentile for both height and weight. The other day two women at a party guessed that he was about 4 years old. I'm just worried about the CM's thinking we're trying to sneak a 4 year old in for free. On our trip DS will turn 3 a few days after we arrive so I'm not buying him a ticket of course. I just get worried about this but if Disney really wanted to regulate it they would require birth certificates. So I guess I should calm down since I know I'm being honest...there's nothing else I can do.

For anyone who has a concern, just bring a photocopy of the birth certificate. I don't know that you will need it, but it will alleviate any issue should it ever come up. It will be tiny and compact, so you won't even notice it being a nusiance. Always better to be safe than sorry.

To alleviate some of your fears I talked to CRO about this the other day while planning my December trip. I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter who talks like a 4 year old and is almost 100% on the charts. No one thinks she is 2 and sometimes neither does she. Sometimes I think she is 14 :earsboy: !!!

Anyway the idea of being stopped on our trip constantly really worried me so while booking my trip I asked a nice castmember about it. She told me that it should not be a big deal at the parks but like Kilee said just bring a photo copy with you if you want to alleviate that concern.

I hope this helps everyone!!

Thanks for all of your advice on this. I guess I bring along a birth certif copy just to be safe.

I was watching the show on A&E "Airplane," a kind of reality show about Southwest Airlines, and last week there was a family who was questioned about her child being under two. In fact, they actually showed the woman having to call a friend at the hospital so they could fax over medical records/birth certificate.

I am sure this is an extreme case, but I'd bring the birth certificate just to be safe.

Have a great trip!

on southwest if you do not buy a seat for your child under 2 you can be asked to provide proof of age. they tell you to bring a copy of the birth certificate.
