Laptop ?

We will be looking for a new laptop for DD for Christmas. We are looking for the best deal on a laptop that will be good for someone who dabbles in photography. She takes photos for family and friends and will be using photoshop. I am guessing graphics will be pretty important as well as memory. All of this is making my head spin. Are there any laptop gurus out there that could recommend the best deal for us for a new laptop that would work for her? We are not looking for the cheapest, but the best deal. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm partial to Mac computers, especially the MacBook Pro's. Some things to think about in your situation:

• Doing graphics work in photoshop will require a lot of horsepower (graphics processing) and storage so don't go with the low-end computers.
• Although desktop computers typically have more processing power and storage than laptops, you get a big advantage in laptops - portability. The laptop can be brought along on vacations and shooting excursions. It can also be used on the couch.
• Photoshop works the same on Windows and OSX (Mac) so that's not an issue you need to consider.

I usually buy my MBP's from the Apple refurb store online. Never a problem and they are indistinguishable from new.

If she likes to play around with Photoshop, a Mac will be her best bet But keep in mind the Photoshop takes up a lot of memory and a lot of lap tops don't have the memory capability to handle the program.
